Position Overview We are hiring an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the Criminal Division of the Dallas and/or Fort Worth offices. For the current opening, responsibilities include investigating and prosecuting white‑collar crimes, illegal immigration, and targeting cartels, transitional criminal organizations, and foreign terrorist organizations. Responsibilities Partner with federal, state, and local law enforcement to manage criminal investigations and prosecutions in the Northern District of Texas. Advise federal agents on legal questions and departmental policy. Recommend charging decisions and propose dispositions for assigned cases. Research and draft legal pleadings and prepare to try cases in federal court. Investigate and pursue asset forfeiture related to prosecutions. Oversee and coordinate litigation assignments for legal support staff. Qualifications Required Qualifications: J.D. degree and at least 3 years post‑J.D. legal or relevant experience. United States citizenship. Active membership in any U.S. jurisdiction bar. Preferred Qualifications: Superior oral and written communication; strong interpersonal skills. Quick analytical ability and precise articulation of case issues. Foundation in functional skills for independent problem solving. Reliability, supportiveness, and willingness to contribute ideas. Excellent computer literacy (Internet research, electronic filing, email, word processing). Salary Information Assistant United States Attorney pay is based on experience. The basic pay range is $83,435.00 to $173,411.00, which includes 27.26% locality pay. Benefits The Department of Justice offers paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, telework, life insurance, health benefits, and participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System. Travel 1 to 5 nights of travel per month. Relocation Expenses Relocation expenses are not authorized; a relocation incentive may be considered based on qualifications.
