The BCO acts as a partner and single point of engagement for relationship managers and frontline bankers for credit and lending, providing credit and credit risk expertise and execution to clients and centralized credit oversight, working in close alignment with credit risk and approval partners. The BCO (Business Credit Office) function is client facing and customer service oriented. Responsibilities include structuring of, and documentation negotiation for, credit products and lending facilities, credit analysis, risk rating recommendation, client credit monitoring. The Director, IMM (International Mid-Market) Coverage, US BCO (Business Credit Office) role will be responsible for developing and leading a high performing, client centric BCO (Business Credit Office) team covering US Corporate & Institutional Banking’s International Mid-Market (IMM) business segment and ensuring exemplary risk management acumen and control standards are embedded within the end-to-end credit and lending process. In discharging their duties, the role holder must implement a common, reliable, and predictable underwriting and lending process and demonstrate strong effective credit risk acumen, that protects the business from exposure, whilst responding to clients borrowing needs. The role holder will report directly to Head of BCO (Business Credit Office) US and will work closely with the Coverage and Transaction Support teams to ensure seamless client experience and consistency of service globally.The role holder will need to be a strategic thinker, an effective collaborator, and a skilled stakeholder manager to successfully work through the complex landscape and deliver exceptional client outcomes, with a focus on our International Mid-Market business segment.Governance and Committee MembershipsKey Responsibilities:Lead and oversee teams responsible for executing the delivery of credit and lending servicing journeys within the US market, with a focus on our International Mid-Market business segment, ensuring alignment with regional processes and a seamless and efficient process for customers and ensuring compliance with US regulatory requirementsMonitor and analyze customer feedback within the market, identifying local areas of focus to improve customer outcomes while ensuring alignment with regional prioritiesCollaborate with local and global stakeholders, including CCM (Client Contact Management), WCR (Wholesale Credit risk), Legal, International Mid-Market Coverage teams, digital channels and products to implement the overall strategy for the wholesale credit and lending journeySupport and drive the implementation of governance frameworks to ensure risks and issues related to the Credit & Lending journey are escalated to regional, and global stakeholders and resolved in a satisfactory manner. Support the monitoring the management of financial and non-financial risks pertaining to the CCM production in partnership with local NFR/Business RiskSupport the OKR (Objectives and Key Results), KPI and SLA management framework within the market, maintaining service management oversight pertaining to both operational and control performance across all CCM (Client Contact Management) CTB & RTB services end-to-endCollaborate with internal teams across the entire credit journey including CCMS Product, Design and Innovation Pillar, technology and transformation teams to execute the technology strategy for CCM (Client Contact Management), reduce legacy technologies, and drive a culture of innovation by developing cutting-edge automation, capability, and business solutions leveraging next-gen technologies, AI, and analyticsDevelop and maintain relationships with regulators, US credit review, internal and external auditors, and participate in audits and regulatory examsManage multiple senior stakeholders with varied and sometimes conflicting agendas, effectively navigating complex situations and driving alignmentSupport and help drive the implementation of the BCO (Business Credit Office) model in the US to be globally leading across the bank, leveraging organizational design capabilities to optimize processes and structuresMaintain a diverse, innovation-driven credit and lending workforce, ensuring high levels of engagement and satisfactionRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field; master’s degree preferredExperience in credit and lending, with a strong background in managing loan portfolios. Experience with mid-market enterprise international companies preferredProven track record of leading and managing teams, with experience in organizational design and strategic planningExtensive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and drive alignment among senior leadersAdvanced financial acumen and credit assessment skills, including ability to apply expert judgement in transaction structuring and assessing borrower creditworthiness, with experience focused on international mid-market companies Broad knowledge of US regulatory frameworks impacting credit and lending Expertise in credit risk management, control assessment, and SOX complianceExperience in driving digitisation and customer experience improvement initiativesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to consume large volumes of customer feedback and distil key areas of focusStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and effectively discuss credit with clients, negotiate terms and build rapport with external and internal stakeholdersAs an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities to ensure you have the right skills for today and tomorrow.
