Our client, a local government organization, is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its team. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with approximately 2 years of experience who is looking to build a strong foundation across a variety of accounting and financial functions.

The Accounting Specialist will support day-to-day accounting operations, including reconciliations, billing, accounts receivable, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation.

Overview of the Accounting Specialist role:

• Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash management.
• Support monthly financial reporting and preparation of financial schedules.
• Assist with annual budgeting and external audit preparation.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Provide support with payroll and other administrative accounting functions.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as needed.

Preferred qualifications for the Accounting Specialist role:

• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles.
• Experience with reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger accounting.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn accounting software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
