Meals on Wheels Greenville Community Engagement Coordinator PURPOSE SUMMARY Reporting to the Volunteer Services Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in creating a welcoming, engaging, and meaningful experience for volunteers and visitors at Meals on Wheels Greenville. This position serves as the primary coordinator for internal volunteer operations, ensuring volunteers have a positive and rewarding experience while supporting the organization's mission. As the first person many volunteers and visitors meet when they arrive, this role helps set the tone for the entire Meals on Wheels Greenville experience, creating an environment where people feel welcomed, appreciated, and inspired to serve. Success in this role requires exceptional customer service, strong organizational skills, enthusiasm for working with people, and the ability to balance relationship-building with the day-to-day operational needs of a busy volunteer program. POSITION SCHEDULE This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly), benefit-eligible position regularly scheduled to work 30 hours per week in-person . Due to the time-sensitive nature of volunteer services operations, employees are expected to work the following regular schedule, which includes an unpaid meal break: Monday - Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to ensure timely service for volunteers and uninterrupted department operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Volunteer Engagement Coordinate the daily staffing and scheduling of meal packaging volunteers, volunteer meal distribution, and other internal volunteer opportunities. Recruit, communicate with, and support individual volunteers, corporate groups, and community organizations to ensure an exceptional volunteer experience. Train volunteers on meal packaging procedures, volunteer expectations, and organizational policies while assisting with Volunteer Orientation as needed. Build relationships with volunteers that encourage continued engagement, appreciation, and long-term involvement. Coordinate volunteer recognition efforts including appreciation events, milestone recognition, thank-you communications, and other engagement opportunities. Manage PTI (court-ordered) volunteers, including eligibility verification, scheduling, communication, and reporting requirements. Maintain accurate volunteer records, schedules, and communication through the volunteer database and communication software. Track volunteer participation and prepare reports demonstrating volunteer impact across the organization. Front Desk & Volunteer Welcome Serve as the welcoming face of Meals on Wheels Greenville by greeting volunteers, donors, guests, community partners, and visitors with professionalism, warmth, and hospitality. Create a positive first impression by helping visitors feel welcomed, informed, and connected to the appropriate staff member or volunteer activity. Respond to volunteer-related phone calls, emails, and inquiries while assisting volunteers with scheduling, questions, and day-to-day support. Respond to other incoming phone calls from clients, donors, and community members as needed, providing courteous assistance and connecting callers with the appropriate staff member or department. Maintain a welcoming, organized, and professional front lobby that reflects the mission, values, and brand personality of Meals on Wheels Greenville. Support the daily operations of the Volunteer Services department by assisting volunteers and visitors while ensuring a positive experience from arrival to departure. Team Support Collaborate with the Volunteer Services team to continually improve volunteer engagement and operational efficiency. Support special events, volunteer initiatives, and other organizational projects. Perform other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Passion for the mission of Meals on Wheels Greenville and a genuine desire to serve others. Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to make every volunteer and guest feel welcomed and appreciated. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and building meaningful relationships. Ability to confidently lead groups of volunteers while maintaining an encouraging and positive atmosphere. Self-motivated, dependable, adaptable, and collaborative. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn volunteer management software. Ability to travel locally as needed. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in customer service, volunteer management, hospitality, nonprofit organizations, or community engagement preferred. Experience coordinating groups or events is a plus.
