Job Title: Full-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

South Bend Orthopaedics is seeking a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Orthopedic Walk-In / Urgent Care Clinic. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated APP to serve as a primary point of care for patients presenting with acute musculoskeletal injuries and conditions without an appointment.

In this fast-paced, rewarding role, the APP will independently evaluate and manage a broad range of orthopedic urgent care needs, from fractures and dislocations to sprains, lacerations, and overuse injuries. Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients presenting with acute orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal complaints on a walk-in basis
• Obtain patient histories, perform focused physical examinations, and formulate differential diagnoses
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic imaging including X-rays and MRI
• Apply and manage casts, splints, and braces for fractures and acute injuries
• Perform joint aspirations, injections, and wound care including laceration repair
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for acute and sub-acute orthopedic conditions
• Triage patients appropriately, referring to SBO physicians or surgeons when operative or specialized intervention is indicated
• Coordinate follow-up care and communicate effectively with patients, families, and referring providers
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation using the electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Collaborate with the broader SBO clinical team to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program
• Current national certification (NCCPA for PA; ANCC, NPCC, or AANP for NP)
• Active Indiana license with no restrictions
• Controlled substance license and DEA registration
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment
• Strong clinical decision-making skills and comfort managing a broad scope of acute orthopedic presentations
• Orthopedic or urgent care experience preferred but not required
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR)
