About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, CPI Must-Have: - Ability to assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems. - Developing individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues. - Administering psychiatric medications and monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions. - Providing immediate, short-term support to patients in crisis, including de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management. - Building trust and rapport with patients through effective communication skills, active listening, and empathy. Description: This position guarantees 48 hours per week. The unit handles a diverse patient population with different acuity levels. Staffing includes ratios of 8 nurses to 1 patient and specific ratios for mental health technicians. Documentation is performed using the Meditech system. The role requires coverage for three 12-hour shifts each day, seven days a week. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract. The floating policy utilizes staff where the greatest need is. The organization follows ICARE values to ensure a positive patient experience. Skills in crisis intervention and therapeutic communication are essential. Monitoring patients for both physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and mental status changes, is required. Effective communication and empathy are vital in this role.
