Step into a rewarding contract opportunity working with high school students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). This position focuses on one-on-one engagement, supporting a 9th-grade student for four hours each day. With a flexible weekly schedule totaling 20 hours, there is also potential to discuss full-time placement options based on your availability and preference. This role allows you to make a meaningful difference in a student’s academic journey, fostering greater independence and confidence within the educational setting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment (TVI)
- Proven experience or specialized training supporting visually impaired students
- Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication abilities and collaborative spirit
- Passion for fostering growth, inclusion, and confidence in students
- Experience working in school settings, particularly at the high school level, is preferred
- Recent background check and relevant clearances
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized instruction to a high school-aged girl, providing targeted support for visually impaired learners
- Work closely with district staff, therapists, and family members to ensure educational goals and accommodations are met
- Develop and implement instructional strategies and materials designed for visual impairment needs
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting plans as necessary to promote continuous growth
- Advocate for student access to curricular and extracurricular opportunities
