Job Summary Registered Nurses in the Home Infusion department at UC Davis Health provide infusion care to adult and pediatric patients with a variety of health needs. The HH RN 2 identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations, directs and acts as a resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned and promotes compliance and support for policies. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. Department Specific Job Scope UCDH Home Infusion is a new department aimed at bringing advanced infusion care to patients in the comfort of their homes. Our purpose and values are centered from a patient‑driven perspective and in partnership with physicians and other providers. The department prides itself on its delivery of user‑friendly Home Infusion care for all patients, caregivers, and members of the health‑care team. The role of the Home Infusion RN is to provide exemplary infusion care to patients in their homes. The position requires travel to patient homes and administration of intravenous and subcutaneous infusions to support patients’ health goals. Home Infusion RNs are experts in vascular access care and employ a wide range of techniques to ensure patients receive an exceptional care experience. They provide standard and progressive infusion therapies such as immunotherapies, enzymes, and other specialty medications and must have the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to infusion reactions autonomously in the home.
