Assistant Professor

Position Summary The Department of Journalism and the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication invite applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position in journalism to begin in August 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. courses; conduct scholarship; mentor graduate students; and participate in service. The effort allocation is 50 % teaching, 45 % research, and 5 % service. Duties and Responsibilities Teach undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. courses within the journalism curriculum. Develop and publish peer‑reviewed research in leading scholarly journals. Mentor graduate students and engage students from diverse backgrounds. Serve the college, department, and university in service activities. Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in journalism, mass communication, or a related field with a journalism‑or mass‑communication‑related research stream. ABD candidates will also be considered. Preferred Qualifications Strong research agenda in journalism, news, or informational media. Demonstrated record or potential for publishing peer‑reviewed articles. Interest in mentoring graduate students. Ability to teach courses in media law, new technology/AI, political communication, media history, multimedia journalism, or media management.
