Junior Quantitative Trader

Position Overview Franklin Templeton is hiring a Junior Quantitative Trader located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The role supports trading activities across equities, FX, and cash instruments for pan‑America markets. It is a hybrid, execution‑oriented position that focuses on streamlining execution and trading operations through quantitative and analytics approaches. Key Responsibilities Support day‑to‑day trading and execution for cash equity and FX trades, ensuring best execution. Build a deep understanding of market structure and trading venues across markets. Monitor market conditions, liquidity, and execution quality across asset classes. Support daily cash and FX management activities as needed. Analyze performance of execution algorithms and trading strategies; identify drivers of slippage, costs, and performance variance. Produce regular execution and performance reporting for traders and management. Work closely with the global quantitative execution team to improve trading workflows by utilizing internal systems, vendor data, and market data. Automate recurring analyses and reporting to improve desk efficiency. Work with large trade‑oriented datasets to visualize and extract actionable insights to systematically improve executions. Partner with technology, data, and trading teams to streamline processes. Support trade monitoring, reconciliations, and exception handling. Assist with adherence to internal risk, compliance, and control frameworks. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a related quantitative or technical field. 1–2 years of relevant experience in trading and quantitative analysis. Recent graduates with a BS degree in a quantitative field and relevant internship experience in asset management with quantitative skills are considered. Strong interest in financial markets and trading. Proficiency in Python (or similar language) for data analysis and automation. Comfort working with large datasets and multiple data sources. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced trading environment. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to equities, FX, or execution trading. Familiarity with market micro‑structure concepts, transaction cost analysis (TCA), trading algorithms, and execution venues. Experience working with SQL, APIs, or market data vendors. Experience in machine learning and AI models, Power Automate, and cloud databases. Internship or prior experience on a trading desk or in trading technology. Work authorization to work full‑time in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship. Work Schedule & Location Full‑time onsite role based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Hybrid schedule – four days in the office.
