Substitute School Nurse for Atlantic County Special Services Position Details Position Type: Student Support Services/ Substitute School Nurse Date Posted: 7/24/2024 Location: Atlantic County Special Services Date Available: TBD Position Purpose To promote health and safety in the school environment and provide health services to students, faculty and staff; to assist with the teaching of sound health practices Essential Functions Reports to the office upon arrival at school Checks for messages or materials requiring immediate attention Requests clarification of school rules and procedures if necessary Arrives in the Nurse's Office on schedule to greet students and remains in the assigned area classroom so that students are effectively supervised Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school nurse's office Supports the other school nurses. Provides emergency care in case of sudden illness and administers first-aid in case of injury to students or staff according to established policies and procedures Notifies Principal or his/her designee to arrange for immediate examination of any pupil who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned Equipment Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in standard office and school building environments. Qualifications Profile Valid New Jersey School Nurse Substitute Certificate Demonstrated expertise in school health nursing practice and emergency procedures Knowledge of child growth and development, community and family dynamics, current health issues and wellness education Strong interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge of community health and social services resources and ability to communicate effectively with non-school health professionals and social service agencies Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status Education Must have RN License Experience Successful prior substitute nursing experience for the appropriate grade level preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
