High School Athletic Trainer
The position of Athletic Trainer is to practice the prevention, care and rehabilitation of injuries incurred through athletic participation with the use of physical modalities. Additionally, the position will be responsible for teaching first aid and CPR procedures to coaching staff.
Essential duties and responsibilities generally include the following:
- Administer a program to provide for emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured high school athletes in compliance with National Athletic Trainers' Association guidelines
- In conjunction with the coach(es), the certified athletic trainer will follow the developed guidelines and emergency care procedure procedures
- Assist and advise the Physical Education/Health and coaching staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs, and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment
- Be responsible for the organization, inventory, and requisition of all training room supplies
- Meet re-certification standards as established by the National Athletic Trainers' Association
- Performs other duties as assigned or required
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures
- Skill in CPR and First Aide techniques
- Skill in communicating in oral and written form
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications
- Bachelor degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid teaching certificate or substitute teaching certificate
- Valid Athletic Trainer Certificate as issued by the Board of Certification and licensed by the Arizona Board of Athletic Training
- Ability to obtain malpractice insurance
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license
- May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds
- May be required to lift students weighing up to 60 pounds
- May be required to work outside normal working hours
- May be required to travel to perform work functions
