Automation EngineerBeachwood, OH 44122OverviewPosition Type Full Time Job Shift Day Travel Percentage Up to 50%DescriptionPosition Overview:The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing automated systems and solutions to enhance manufacturing, production, or operational processes. The role requires expertise in automation technologies, process control, robotics, and software programming. The Automation Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize productivity, reduce human error, improve efficiency, and ensure the seamless integration of automated systems into existing operations.Key Responsibilities:Develop PLC programmingDevelop code from specifications in multiple control platformsDesign, implement, and commission drive control systemsDevelop motion-based machine control solutions meeting customer specifications and all applicable safety standards and functional requirementsDevelop HMI and SCADA control solutions meeting customer specifications and functional requirementsLearn and implement new control platform solutions in a self-paced on the job environmentResponsible for accuracy and content of design, as assigned by team managerInterface with customers, project managers, and sales teamDevelopment, testing, and commissioning (will require travel to customer sites) of projectsRemote and onsite customer serviceReview drawings for accuracyTrain end user personnel on system, when requiredQualificationsWhat we need you to have:Bachelor's degree in computer science or related STEM degree or 5 years of equivalent experienceAbility to read and understand electrical schematics for control systemsMust have proven experience in PLC logic and programming for Allen Bradley with any of the following PLC's a plus: Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens. Etc.Ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar systems with a structured approachAbility to document work and provide concise reports and manuals.Ability to commission AC, DC, and Motion drivesKnowledge and experience with drive control systems, understand AC & DC motor theoryKnowledge and/or experience in ACAD, ACAD Electrical, and EPlanWorking knowledge of NEC, NFPA-79, and UL-508 Industry Safety StandardsExcellent communication skillsExcellent time management and organizational skillsWhat we'd love you to have:Advanced degree in computer science or related STEM studiesMulti-industry experienceRobot programming experienceMulti-platform and multi-vendor experienceMotion control experienceAdditional Information:Hybrid Position - Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 3 days per week and 2 days remote.Travel Requirements – willingness to travel; approximately 30 - 50% (dependent upon project and location) - domestic and internationalApplicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa currently
