Reporting directly to the COO, this highly visible role will lead the financial operations of our growing, multi-state law firm, oversee a team of five accounting professionals, manage compliance across more than 26 trust (IOLTA) accounts, and serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and executive leadership.

We're looking for a collaborative leader who combines exceptional accounting expertise with sound business judgment, operational excellence, and the highest level of integrity.

What You'll Do

  • Provide executive leadership and oversight of the firm's accounting, treasury, financial reporting, and cash management functions.

  • Oversee the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, payroll oversight, banking relationships, accounting systems, and financial operations.
  • Maintain executive oversight of more than 26 trust (IOLTA) accounts, ensuring strict compliance with State Bar trust accounting rules, fiduciary obligations, reconciliation requirements, and internal controls.

  • Develop strong financial controls, accounting policies, and risk management practices while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other applicable requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by optimizing financial processes, strengthening reporting, leveraging technology, and building scalable systems that support the firm's continued growth.
  • Oversee select personal financial matters for ownership while coordinating with outside financial advisors, tax professionals, and other trusted partners.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA license preferred, but equivalent executive-level accounting experience will be considered.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least five years in an accounting leadership role.
  • Proven success leading accounting teams and partnering with business owners, executive leadership, and external CPAs in a growing organization.
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, internal controls, financial modeling, and executive-level reporting.
  • Exceptional analytical, leadership, and strategic problem-solving skills, with the highest standards of integrity, judgment, and professionalism.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Law firm accounting experience, including trust (IOLTA) accounting and State Bar trust compliance, is strongly preferred.
