What We’re Looking For GNC's Store Manager in Training (SMIT) position is a development focused role that is crafted to prepare an individual to manage their own store. Under the leadership of a Store Manager or District Manager, this hands‑on program will teach you the skills and knowledge needed to successfully operate your own store, drive results, and develop and lead your team. What You’ll Do Full‑time hourly supervisory position. The SMIT role is a fast track to management, providing work assignments and training opportunities to prepare you for promotion from a SMIT to a Store Manager. As a SMIT you will learn and be expected to lead, coach and support your team to provide exceptional service and guidance to our customers. Actively engage with your leader in training initiatives, projects, and goals to support your path to promotion during the program. Support the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the customer relationship that leads to sales and repeat business (MYGNC Rewards). Achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals while helping sales associates realize their sales potential. Build strong teams, demonstrate leadership and managerial skills, such as giving feedback to store associates regarding work performance on an ongoing basis, recruiting, hiring, and performance management. Open, close and operate the retail facility—include cash handling, inventory count and deposits according to GNC procedures. Attend community fairs, conferences, meetings and other public gatherings to promote the organization's mission and initiatives. Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion into a Store Manager position. At the end of 90 days, performance is assessed to determine eligibility for promotion. Environmental Factors & Working Schedule Must be able to stand or walk up to eight hours a day. Frequent reaching, bending and twisting—below waist and above shoulders. Use repetitive hand‑to‑finger motions and reach with hands and arms. Lift up to twenty pounds frequently, occasionally up to forty pounds; push/pull up to 20 lbs. Ability to climb ladders, reach and bend. Work in temperatures ranging from 50 to 85 degrees, especially in stock rooms. Use of a computer up to 60% of the time. SMITs work five days a week (40 hours) with varying shift requirements based on store type (mall, strip center, downtown). Core duties include nighttime, weekend, lunch hour, and holiday work as specified.
