Enterprise Systems Product Manager
$183.2k - $203.5kEarthjustice
Earthjustice is the nation’s leading environmental law organization. We wield the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people’s health, preserve magnificent places and wildlife, advance clean energy, and combat climate change. We are here because the Earth needs a good lawyer. Driven by a passion for justice, inclusion, partnership, and excellence, our core values lead us to seek a broad range of perspectives and backgrounds to achieve our mission and maintain an inclusive environment where all staff are valued and respected. The Enterprise Systems Product Manager is a hybrid technical product manager and forward‑deployed problem‑solver who embeds directly with Earthjustice teams to streamline how the organization operates. This is a builder’s role focused on process improvement, automation, and enterprise systems optimization. The work spans the full spectrum of modern operational technology; business process automation, workflow design, enterprise platform configuration, low‑code/no‑code solutions, and internal tooling, with AI applied where it adds real value. The ideal candidate brings the judgment to choose the right approach for each situation. The role partners closely with business units including Legal, HR, Finance, Development, and Communications to identify bottlenecks, map workflows and implement tools that materially reduce friction and enable staff to focus on mission‑critical work. The ideal candidate is a rare blend of skills: equally comfortable configuring enterprise platforms, conducting discovery interviews with non‑technical stakeholders, evaluating vendors, navigating ambiguity, and translating between executive priorities and technical tradeoffs. This is a non‑supervisory position. The Enterprise Systems Product Manager is expected to work a full‑time (37.5 hours/week) schedule, and will work a hybrid schedule with 2 days in‑office per week from the following locations: San Francisco, New York, or Washington D.C. What you’ll do Process Design & System Implementation (50%) Serve as a trusted technology partner across departments by embedding directly within the department to understand how work gets done – conducting structured stakeholder interviews, mapping current‑state workflows, and identifying bottlenecks, manual handoffs, and duplicative effort. Partner with departments to redesign processes and deliver solutions end‑to‑end: documenting, prototyping, and building production‑grade automations using business process automation platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier), workflow tools, and low‑code/no‑code applications to replace manual work with reliable systems. In collaboration with the Digital Transformation team, define and track success metrics (e.g., time saved, error reduction, cycle time, adoption, user satisfaction), and communicate progress and strategy to stakeholders and executive leadership through clear, data‑driven presentations. AI Roadmap & Delivery (30%) Partner with leadership and business unit stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and scope high‑impact AI use cases, translating ambiguous business problems into well‑defined product requirements and actionable technical roadmaps. Lead end‑to‑end delivery of AI‑powered tools and workflows – including LLM‑based applications, retrieval systems, automation pipelines, and integrations with existing platforms – balancing speed of iteration with security, accuracy, and responsible AI principles. Establish frameworks for evaluating AI solutions (build vs. buy, vendor selection, model evaluation, cost/benefit analysis) and develop guardrails for safe, ethical, and effective use of AI across the organization. Emerging Technology Implementation (20%) Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to improve existing processes, deploying AI‑powered solutions where they meaningfully outperform traditional automation and recognizing when simpler, non‑AI approaches are the better fit. Partner with Security, Technology Operations, General Counsel, and Operations leadership to shape Earthjustice’s responsible emerging technology practices, including vendor standards, intake and review processes, evaluation methods, and staff guidance informed by frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework. Stay current on emerging technologies, develop structured benchmarking evaluations and monitoring, and, in partnership with the Digital Transformation team, socialize findings with the organization. Ongoing Learning Actively pursue professional development and contribute to a culture of learning by building skills and sharing knowledge—staying current on business technology, automation platforms, enterprise systems, emerging AI capabilities, and tools relevant to legal and nonprofit operations. Please note that the percentage breakdowns provided above serve as a guideline and that other duties may be assigned as part of the job’s requirements. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). 6+ years of experience across technical product management, business systems analysis, solution engineering or forward‑deployed engineering. Software engineering or integration experience with enterprise systems such as HRIS, CRM, ERP systems, and productivity platforms like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace. Strong process design and analysis skills including discovery, workflow mapping, requirements definition, prioritization, and outcome measurement. Experience with applied AI/LLM tools including a strong understanding of appropriate use cases, limitations, and the need for human oversight. Experience with MCP deployment preferred. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of clearly explaining technical tradeoffs to both executive, non‑technical, and frontline audiences, aligning diverse stakeholders, and producing concise, high‑quality documentation. Demonstrated commitment to Earthjustice’s values of Justice, Excellence, Inclusion, and Partnership. Preferred: Experience supporting legal, mission‑driven, public interest, or other professional services environments is a strong plus, as is familiarity with legal tech tooling (e.g., document/case management, e‑discovery, contract lifecycle management) or nonprofit operational systems (fundraising platforms, grants management). Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable automations using workflow, light scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript, SQL), and low‑code/no‑code platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier, Workato) with the ability to design, build, and maintain automations. Physical Requirements Sat for extended periods with occasional standing and walking. Type, file, and/or handle office equipment. Lift and carry materials. Read documents, conduct computer work and document review. Travel occasionally to Earthjustice offices and partner locations as required. Salary & Benefits We offer a competitive salary and excellent, comprehensive benefits. We also offer a casual and congenial work environment. Salaries at Earthjustice are determined by working location and are commensurate with the experience required. The annual salary for candidates based in San Francisco, CA, and New York, NY, is $183,200 – $203,500. The annual salary for candidates based in Washington D.C. is $174,100 – $193,400.
