Data Governance Specialist

Role Summary We are seeking a Next Frontier Data Security, Governance & Quality Lead to establish the trust foundation for emerging technology data programs. This role will define and operationalize the controls required to enable secure, compliant, high-quality, and scalable use of data across platforms, products, operational environments, and ecosystem partnerships. The ideal candidate combines practical data governance experience with strong data security and control design capability. They have a background or demonstrated interest in Physical AI, Blockchain, Internet of Things, or Quantum. They can implement governance that accelerates delivery rather than slowing it down, while ensuring appropriate protection of sensitive, proprietary, regulated, and operationally critical data. This role is central to making data usable, defensible, and sustainable at scale across next frontier technology initiatives. Key Responsibilities Define and implement the data governance framework, including ownership, stewardship, standards, decision rights, and escalation paths Design data control patterns covering classification, access, least privilege, segregation, auditability, retention, and permissible use Partner with architecture and engineering leads to embed security and governance requirements into platform, pipeline, and product design Establish and monitor data quality rules, thresholds, issue management processes, and remediation workflows Define metadata, lineage, and critical data element expectations for priority datasets and products Support secure data sharing across internal teams, external partners, alliance ecosystems, and third parties Coordinate privacy, confidentiality, and sensitive-data handling requirements where applicable Translate policy requirements into practical operating procedures, checkpoints, and reusable control patterns Create governance forums, reporting, and risk management processes for data issues and control maturity Work with legal, cyber, risk, compliance, and delivery stakeholders to support secure and responsible data use Required Qualifications Strong experience in data governance, data security, data risk, or information control roles Experience designing practical governance operating models in complex organizations this includes developing processes and procedures for implementation. Strong knowledge of data access controls, classification, auditability, and policy-based data management Experience with data quality frameworks and monitoring approaches Familiarity with privacy, retention, and permissible-use concepts Ability to translate security and governance requirements into implementable delivery controls Strong stakeholder management across technical, legal, risk, and operational teams Ability to balance control rigor with delivery speed Preferred Qualifications Experience in frontier technology, industrial, infrastructure, R&D, or multi-party innovation environments Experience governing device, telemetry, geospatial, video, synthetic, or other high-complexity data types Familiarity with metadata/catalog tooling, lineage approaches, and control automation Experience with zero trust, least privilege, and policy-based access models Experience supporting ecosystem or alliance-based data sharing Ideal Candidate Profile Strong control mindset with ability to relay to stakeholders of various understandings Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders including security teams and delivery teams Structured, practical, and detail-oriented Ability to develop processes and procedures for governance #J-18808-Ljbffr
