EHS Specialist

Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts and travel as required. Professional certification desired ( ASP-Associate Safety Professional OR GSP-Graduate Safety Practitioner ). General Description of Duties and Responsibilities Create synergy and support the Environmental Safety & Health and Lean culture. Develop and monitor effective EHS management strategies, provide recommendations and technical expertise on regulatory compliance. Provide direction and support the safety culture through risk analysis, injury free events (IFEs), safety interactions, human performance principles, hazard identification/elimination, work practice controls, employee engagement and other company directive preventive safety initiatives. Audit and monitor activities to ensure all safety and health regulatory requirements are being met. Provide effective safety communication and liaison support between employees, facility management, and federal, state, & local regulatory agencies. Drive and execute a comprehensive multi-year strategy to continue the company's drive of the culture of zero. Lead and oversee the Kaizen Optimizer – Lean Optima, operational audit programs to assure compliance in EHS. Conduct and or coordinate EHS inspections and assessments to assure compliance with regulatory requirements, Key Performance Measures (KPIs) expectations, identify opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations based on findings. Procure and maintain records, data, or information necessary to prepare internally or externally required reports, respond to agency requests. Prepare and submit timely reports and responses to informational requests. Conduct incident investigations including root cause analysis for corrective action. Train management, personnel on incident investigations and proper documentation. Measure plant performance, benchmarking against best-in-class manufacturing. Provide industrial hygiene support to evaluate employee noise and other health exposures. Responsible for initiating, formalizing and providing EHS various training programs for plant personnel. Further develop, implement, and sustain a systemized environmental, safety & health program that ensures the Corporate Safety location meets company standards and initiatives. Support the Corporate Safety location in the development and maintenance of EHS systems, OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), ISO and similar. Qualifications and Experience Requirements Working knowledge of the VPP process and various safety regulations or standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc.) Requires basic knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards, to include ergonomics, machine guarding, electrical hazards, LOTO, etc. Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts and travel as required. Must have excellent verbal, written skills and interpersonal skills along with ability to make presentations comfortably and professionally to large groups. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Adept at resolving complex problems encountered in a fast-paced environment Skilled at managing multiple projects at once and providing feedback to managers.
