Richard Bland College (RBC) is a residential, two-year liberal arts transfer institution dedicated to preparing students for successful transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. Often considered a hidden gem just beyond the Tri-Cities region, the College is set within a picturesque rural campus spanning more than 750 acres of wetlands, serene forests, and the state's oldest and largest pecan grove. RBC is seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Student Accounts Specialist to join the Business Office team. This position plays a critical role in supporting student financial account operations by providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders. The Student Accounts Specialist maintains accurate student account records, processes account-related transactions, responds to inquiries, supports collections and accounts receivable activities, and serves as a frontline resource for student account research. This position contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the College's Business Office while fostering a positive student experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide exceptional customer service to students, parents, faculty, staff, and external constituents regarding student account matters.
• Maintain accurate student financial account records within College systems.
• Process student account transactions, including payments, adjustments, refunds, and other account-related activities.
• Research and resolve student account discrepancies and issues in a timely manner.
• Respond to inquiries regarding tuition, fees, payment plans, account balances, and related policies and procedures.
• Assist with collections and accounts receivable functions, including monitoring delinquent accounts and supporting collection efforts.
• Prepare and maintain financial records, reports, correspondence, and documentation.
• Reconcile account information and ensure compliance with College policies and applicable regulations.
• Collaborate with Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar, and other departments to support student success and institutional operations.
• Assist with annual audits and other financial review activities as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support Business Office operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience providing customer service in an office, business, financial, educational, or administrative environment.
• Demonstrated experience using computerized systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Considerations

• Experience working in a higher education, student accounts, bursar, finance, or business office environment.
• Experience with student information systems (SIS}, accounts receivable, or billing systems.
• Knowledge of FERPA regulations.
• Experience handling collections, receivables, or account reconciliation processes.
• Ability to perform detailed recordkeeping and data entry functions.
