Job Summary


Under general supervision, of Dean of Continuing Education, the candidate will assist in the coordination of enrichment, workforce and educational events offered by the Division of Continuing Education.

Job Description


1. Assist unit in arranging facilities for workshops, classes and special events to promote Continuing Education.

2. Exercises responsibilities for keeping inventory and equipment designated for Continuing Education.

3. Attends and participates in activities that support the university such as, in-service training classes and institutes.

4. Maintain accurate records and prepares reports related to community programming events.

5. Assist in fostering relationships with community-based organizations, businesses, vendors and partners collaborating with Continuing Education.

6. Attend community (fairs, meetings, events) to promote educational, enrichment and workforce opportunities for the university.

7. Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonable within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications


CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

1. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
   1. Coursework in social work or behavioral sciences, or closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
   2. Progressively more responsible work experience in social service/ counseling at a paraprofessional level under qualified supervision.

Preferred Qualifications


Community Engagement and planning experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Working knowledge of human nature.
2. Ability to interview individuals to determine their physical, social, and/or possible psychological needs.
3. Ability to organize, prepare, and maintain records, reports, files, and correspondence.
4. Ability to obtain services necessary to meet participants' needs.
5. Ability to establish effective working relationships with program participants and staff.

Additional Applicant Information

Physical Requirement/ Demands

• Ability to lift or move up to 30 lbs. and stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Available to work Tuesday- Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
• Ability to travel between main campus (9501 S. King Drive, Chicago, IL) and secondary university (Gift of Hope, Jackie D. Lynch Building, 7936 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago, IL) sites.
• Assist in arranging facilities (tables, chairs) for workshops, classes and special events to promote Continuing Education and university programming.
