Registered Nurse

Overview Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of medical professionals in Newcastle, WY, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Wyoming Department of Corrections – Honor Conservation Camp. Full Time, Part Time, and PRN positions are available. All hires will receive an additional $2.00 per hour pay incentive and mileage reimbursement where applicable. Responsibilities Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals. Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and medical histories. Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services. Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes. Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities. Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention. Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well‑being of patients. Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information. Qualifications Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state. Must possess an active BLS/CPR certification (AHA required). Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health‑care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health‑care services. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Able to work independently and in a team. Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed. Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and adhere to all facility correctional‑healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening. Physical Capabilities Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
