In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

Federal Work Study student may apply.

In good disciplinary standing.

The Instructional Technology Assistant is a 15-20 hour/week student employee position within the Training and Instructional Technology team. This role focuses on supporting professors through technical support, training, media production, and course design. Primary duties include answering support emails and leading one-on-one consultation appointments for music technology and learning tools (such as Canvas). Additionally, the assistant will contribute to the creation of learning resources including video tutorials, interactive web content, and step-by- step guides. They’ll also work directly inside Canvas to support the building of course sites according to instructional design best practices. This position offers valuable mentorship and hands-on professional development in instructional design, technology training, music technology, digital media development, and emerging tools like Generative AI. Students in this position will be provided with training as needed on software and platforms they’re unfamiliar with. The role is structured as a hybrid position, combining remote work with scheduled on-campus time for project work.

15-20 hours/week based on student schedule and school workload. Expected dates and times of shifts:

Scheduled hours between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday- Friday (scheduled around class times; includes dedicated on-campus project hours). Schedule changes each semester based on individual student class schedules. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Technical Support & Consultation: Provide prompt, empathetic technical support and training to instructors regarding music technology and learning technology (Canvas and integrated tools) via email and scheduled one-on-one appointments over zoom. Learning Material Development: Contribute to the design of instructional assets, including short instructional videos, interactive web content, graphics, and static downloadable guides. Course Design & Canvas Development: Assist with the course building and instructional design process, conducting work directly within Canvas (building pages, organizing modules, formatting content, and testing student-facing features). Collaboration & Mentorship: Participate in regular team check-ins, skill-building workshops, and mentorship sessions to build expertise in instructional design, media tools, and educational technology. Required Skills and Knowledge: Currently enrolled undergraduate student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail. A customer-service mindset with a strong desire to help others succeed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical troubleshooting and peer/faculty interaction. Eagerness and enthusiasm to learn new software, music technology, design tools, web development, or generative AI applications. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment (balancing independent remote tasks with on-campus collaboration). Preferred Skills and Knowledge: Prior experience with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems (Blackboard, Google Classroom, Moodle, Brightspace/D2L) as a student. Familiarity with music technology, digital audio workstations (DAWs like Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton), or notation software. Basic experience or interest in video editing, graphic design, screen capture software, or web development (HTML/CSS). Curiosity about using Generative AI tools to assist with web development and creative design workflows. Hourly Rate: 17.51 Hiring Supervisor: Marcus Hoige
