Tooling Technician

Tooling Technician Join a high-volume injection molding department as a Tooling Technician, where you will perform preventative maintenance and production repair on injection molds used to manufacture interior components for the automotive industry. You will work across a fleet of large-tonnage machines, ensuring molds operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support continuous production. Job Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on injection molds used in automotive interior component production Carry out production tool repair on molds ranging from approximately 900 lbs to 2,500 tons across a fleet of 34 machines Inspect molds regularly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures and take corrective action Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems related to mold operation, including hydraulic ejection, hydraulic lines, and core signals in hydraulic cylinders Troubleshoot and repair issues on injection molding machinery, including equipment from multiple manufacturers Maintain and repair hot runner systems, including troubleshooting and repairing valve gates within molds Perform standard electrical troubleshooting and repair on mold-related systems up to 120V and 240V Essential Skills At least 3 years of production tool repair experience in injection molding environments Hands-on experience with injection mold tooling repair and preventative maintenance Hydraulic maintenance and repair experience, specifically with hydraulic ejection systems, hydraulic lines, and core signals in hydraulic cylinders Experience working with injection molding machinery, including equipment from manufacturers such as the person, KM, and Toshiba (experience with all three is not required) Job Type & Location This is a permanent position based out of Detroit, MI.
