Supervisor of Building Trades (Correctional Facility) Location: Sierra Conservation Center, Jamestown, Tuolumne County, California. Job Code #: JC-520735 | Position #: 099-216-6763-001. Salary Range: $7,382.00 - $8,755.00 (per month). Overview Under the general direction of the Correctional Plant Supervisor, the Supervisor of Building Trades (SBT) oversees the teams of Carpenters, Electricians, Electronic Technicians, Painters, Plumbers, and Maintenance Mechanics in the maintenance, construction, inspection, and repair of the main institution. Key Responsibilities Supervise and lead building trades journeypersons, leading persons, and inmates/youthful offenders in the execution of maintenance, repair, and construction tasks. Inspect work performed by trades personnel, contractors, and inmates to ensure compliance with government code standards. Plan, schedule, and coordinate the work of trade groups and contractors on projects. Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to accurately direct tasks. Estimate material and labor requirements and manage budgets within departmental guidelines. Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and document work history. Required Qualifications Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building construction and repair. Understanding of codes, regulations, safety orders, and safety practices applicable to building trades. Ability to supervise, inspect, and schedule work of building trades personnel and contractors. Proficiency reading blueprints, plans, and specifications. Experience estimating material and labor requirements for construction projects. Computer proficiency with systems such as Strategic Offender Management System (SOMS), Business Information System (BIS). Desirable Qualifications Experience planning capital outlay, special repair, service and expense, and architectural engineering processes within a correctional setting. Ability to adopt courses of action to meet timeframes and maintain safety. Demonstrated ability to foster equitable and inclusive workplace practices.
