Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PACU - Post Anesthesia Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/27/2026 Duration: 10 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours Employment Type: Travel Job Summary The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) registered nurse position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. This role involves providing high-quality post-anesthesia care for inpatient and outpatient surgical patients across multiple specialties. The PACU nurse will work in a fast-paced environment supporting various patient needs with a focus on teamwork and patient safety. Job Details Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with shift hours typically around 8 hours. Candidates should be comfortable with variable start times, including early mornings, and may need to work on-call shifts. Required Qualifications: Valid RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a multistate compact license, minimum of 2 years PACU RN experience, current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA), experience with Epic electronic medical record system preferred, strong perianesthesia background, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric care experience is helpful but not required. Experience with fast-paced surgical environments is advantageous. Float: First to float between Preoperative, ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy), and GI Endoscopy units, with no intraoperative Endoscopy or ECT assignment expected. Additional Information: The assignment duration is 10 weeks. The role involves working in a 13-bay PACU with patient ratios of 2:1 in Phase 1 and 3:1 in Phase 2. Candidates will care for both inpatient and outpatient surgical patients, including those aged 10 and above, with a focus on various surgical specialties such as joint replacements, spine, orthopedics, and general surgery.
