PART TIME PARKS AND TRAIL RANGER

Overview The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting to fill a Part‑Time Parks and Trail Ranger vacancy. The department offers many recreational opportunities for residents and visitors, with more than 72 miles of trail and 44 parks. Responsibilities Act as a source of public information about the more than 40 City parks and trail network and interpret and enforce park rules and regulations for visitors. Assist with various events and programs and ensure safety for park patrons. Serve as parking enforcement personnel for non‑moving violations at City Parks and City Facilities as needed. Work under close and constant supervision during entry‑level assignments, following detailed instructions with little room for deviation. Possibly direct and supervise helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees as required. Qualifications This entry‑level position requires an ability to work in a supervised environment and demonstrate proficiency in assigned functions. Part‑time positions are limited to an average of 20 hours per week, no more than 999 hours per fiscal year. The candidate must be available for morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
