Marketing & Sales - EdTech / Major Educational Materials Company

A major Japanese software development company based in Torrance, California, is seeking a Marketing & Sales professional.

The company operates in Japan, the United States, and Canada and provides digital learning services for children. As it expands in the U.S. market, it is looking for someone who can identify new sales channels and partners, develop a U.S. go-to-market strategy, and carry that strategy through to execution.

Position Overview

This role focuses on B2C sales, business development, and marketing to grow the company’s customer base and sales channels in the United States.

You will determine which customer segments to target, which channels to use, and how best to bring the service to market. You will also prospect for customers and partners and lead sales activities directly. As part of a small team, you will work across strategy, outreach, partner development, marketing execution, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a go-to-market and sales strategy for the U.S. market.
• Identify and develop new B2C sales channels and routes to market.
• Prospect for new customers through outreach, cold calling, and sales meetings.
• Conduct sales and promotional activities targeting schools, educational organizations, parents, and families.
• Identify and build relationships with distributors, affiliates, and other partners.
• Manage and collaborate with existing distributors and affiliates.
• Identify new marketing agencies and service partners.
• Research and analyze competitors, market trends, and customer needs.
• Analyze sales and marketing data and use the findings to improve performance.
• Review and improve marketing materials, including direct mail, website content, emails, and enrollment guides.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate sales and marketing initiatives.
• Travel within the United States as needed for field sales and market development.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience in B2C sales, business development, or marketing for consumer products or services.
• Experience developing new sales channels, distributors, or partnerships.
• Experience launching a business or entering a new market is a plus.
• Ability to develop a strategy and personally execute it .
• Willingness to prospect for new customers and make cold outreach.
• Initiative and adaptability in a fast-paced startup or launch-stage environment.
• Willingness to work across functions in a small team.
• Ability to analyze sales and marketing data and turn insights into improvements.
• Interest in expanding a business across the U.S. market.

Preferred Experience

• EdTech or educational services.
• Consumer products or B2C services sales.
• Sales or business development at an IT, SaaS, or software company.
• Business development or market launches at a startup.
• Developing and executing go-to-market strategies.
• Channel development involving distributors, retailers, or other sales partners.
• Consulting experience that included both strategy development and hands-on execution.

Experience in education is not required . We welcome candidates who can apply their experience in market expansion and channel development to growing an educational service in the United States.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in sales, new business development, or marketing.
• Experience acquiring new customers or developing new sales channels.
• Ability to analyze sales and marketing data.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field.
• Ability to work in the United States.
• Ability to work onsite and travel as needed.

Japanese is not required. Candidates with substantial sales and business development experience may perform the role primarily in English. For candidates with less experience, Japanese proficiency is preferred to support communication with the team in Japan.

Work Style and Travel

This is primarily a field sales role . The position is generally based at the Torrance office and involves in-person visits with customers and partners. Travel to other parts of the United States will be required as needed to support market expansion.

Pay | Up to $40 per hour, depending on experience and determined after the interview
