Senior Consultant, Client Solutions
Public Consulting Group LLC (PCG) is a leading public sector solutions implementation and operations improvement firm that partners with health, education, and human services agencies to improve lives. Founded in 1986, PCG employs approximately 2,000 professionals throughout the U.S.—all committed to delivering solutions that change lives for the better. The firm is a member of a family of companies with experience in all 50 states, and clients in three Canadian provinces and Europe. PCG offers clients a multidisciplinary approach to meet challenges, pursue opportunities, and serve constituents across the public sector.
Our Education team offers consulting services and technology solutions to help schools, school districts, and state education agencies promote student success, improve programs and processes, and optimize financial resources. We work with clients to ensure all students have what they need to succeed.
Position Overview
The Senior Consultant, Client Solutions serves as a trusted advisor to state and local education agencies across the Pacific Northwest, leading complex client engagements that integrate strategy, operations, and technology-enabled solutions.
This role is responsible for delivering high-impact consulting services while also driving revenue growth through client expansion, solution upsell, and identification of new business opportunities, representing approximately 20-25% of the position's overall focus.
A core and differentiating expectation of this role is the ability to understand, lead, and manage large, complex, and often custom technology implementations, including enterprise platforms, data systems, and integrated solutions that support regulatory, operational, and educational outcomes.
While primarily a remote role, it is expected that the successful candidate resides within the Pacific Northwest (ideally within Seattle, WA but will also consider Portland, OR), has a strong professional reputation within the region, and is able to travel as needed to support clients, implementations, and growth initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and executes state and local consulting strategies aligned with client priorities, regulatory requirements, and PCG solution offerings.
- Serves as a senior client-facing leader, ensuring delivery excellence across complex, multi-group engagements.
- Independently manages complex projects, staff, budgets, and deliverables with limited supervision while meeting or exceeding performance expectations.
- Ensures client retention and long-term success through consistent delivery quality and proactive relationship management.
- Develops and manages comprehensive client communication and governance plans.
- Identifies and elicits business, operational, and technical requirements from diverse stakeholder groups.
- Facilitates executive-level discussions, working sessions, and decision-making forums.
- Identifies risks, gaps, and operational or technical constraints and recommends appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Plans, monitors, and adjusts project execution to ensure scope, schedule, quality, and financial alignment.
- Delegates tasks appropriately and leads cross-functional consulting, technical, and client teams.
- Prepares high-quality written deliverables, executive briefings, and client-facing materials.
- Supervises client success and delivery teams.
Technology & Complex Solution Implementation (Core Responsibility)
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of enterprise and custom technology solutions used by public sector education agencies, including data systems, workflow platforms, compliance tools, and integrated applications.
- Leads or oversees large-scale, complex, and often custom technology implementations, serving as a bridge between client stakeholders, consulting teams, and technical delivery resources.
- Translates client business and policy needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
- Guides clients through technology planning, implementation, change management, and adoption processes.
- Manages implementation risk, dependencies, and interdependencies across policy, operations, and technology.
- Partners closely with technical teams to ensure solutions are delivered on time, on budget, and aligned to client outcomes.
- Supports clients in navigating system customization, integration, data migration, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ensures technology solutions enhance operational efficiency, data quality, and program effectiveness.
Revenue Growth & Business Expansion (20-25%)
- Drives revenue growth by identifying opportunities to expand existing engagements through additional services, technology solutions, and contract modifications.
- Proactively uncovers unmet client needs and emerging opportunities tied to operational and technology challenges.
- Develops and executes regional growth strategies in collaboration with practice and regional leadership.
- Identifies, qualifies, and follows up on new sales leads and expansion opportunities.
- Leverages delivery and implementation work to strengthen long-term client partnerships.
- Leads and supports proposal development efforts, including solution design, writing, coordination, and submission readiness.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with senior agency leaders and decision-makers across the Pacific Northwest.
Subject Matter & Regulatory Expertise
- Develops deep expertise in complex federal and state education regulations and requirements.
- Analyzes and interprets federal and state laws, regulations, and policy guidance.
- Reviews business and program operations to identify service, efficiency, and compliance improvements.
Required Skills
- Must be located in the Pacific Northwest region-- ideally within Seattle, WA but will also consider Portland, OR.
- Demonstrated experience managing large, complex, and technology-enabled consulting engagements.
- Strong understanding of technology implementations within public sector or regulated environments.
- Ability to translate between business, policy, and technical stakeholders.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Proven ability to balance delivery excellence with revenue growth responsibilities.
- Demonstrated success identifying new business opportunities and expanding existing client engagements.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, complex environments.
- Outstanding oral, written, and executive-level communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 10 years of relevant experience required; graduate degree preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant consulting, public sector, technology implementation, or education-sector experience.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Business Analysts
- Consultants
Working Conditions
