In addition, this position will at times collaborate with Engineering to identify optimal sourcing strategies and execute purchases in support of New Product Development needs. The Buyer II must be able to quote with multiple suppliers, determine optimal sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and issue purchase orders for required production and facilitate on time delivery of all parts requirements.How you'll contribute:Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirements. Negotiate and manage long term pricing agreements on critical commoditiesIdentifies actual and potential delivery issues; expedites/pushes-out orders as necessary to meet production and inventory targets, and ensuring there are no production shortagesActively participate on new product development teams to review product concepts for cost, supplier implementation schedule and suitability to the current supply base. As part of this, in partnering with the development team ensuring that material sourcing is secured for all NPI builds, taking into account material and design risks, lead-times and costsMaintain appropriate inventory levels consistent with targeted inventory goals and as set by management. Participate with management in the setting of inventory strategies, based on needs and supplier capabilitiesManage third-party supplier relationships, serving as the point person for day-to-day supplier interactions and activitiesAt times, participate in, or lead, new supplier selections including supplier qualification visitsAt times, participate in, or lead, supplier contract negotiationsAt times, participate in, or lead, establishing commodity strategiesMaintain accuracy of ERP information including lead-time, pricing, current supplier information, current purchase order data, etc.Ensure ERP parameters are maintained by monitoring minimum, order multiples, and current inventory levels; making recommendations to management for adjustments to levelsMonitor supplier performance by ensuring that product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements are met and that supplier is aware of their performanceYou'll also support by:Acting as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement-related problemsWorking with the Accounts Payable on supplier invoice issues or discrepancies.Contributing to team effort by accomplishing other job-related tasks as needed; enabling other workers to achieve their job objectivesProcess non-conforming material requests and RMA requests with suppliers, addressing any resulting supplier corrective actionsAt times, coach and mentor others on best practicesA successful candidate should have:Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field desiredMinimum of 5 years of experience in procurementExperience working with OEM/ODM suppliersAPICS CPIM certification desiredKnowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System and Material Resource Planning (MRP).Ability to travel domestic and international to conduct new supplier qualifications and maintain supplier relationships.Knowledge of lean manufacturing principalsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsProficient written and communication skillsMultitasker yet analytical and detail orientedWork Environment:Sit or stand for long periods of timeWhat we offer:Medical, Dental, and Vision3 weeks annual PTO and 9 paid holidays401(k) + matchingEmployer-paid base life insurance, short, and long-term disabilityHealth savings accounts (with Biamp contribution) and flexible spending accountsTuition reimbursementCharitable donation matchingDiscretionary profit-sharingReferral bonusesWho is Biamp?We make the world’s most extraordinary audio and video solutions.
