We’re looking for an IT Specialist (Support & Development) who wants more than a traditional help desk role. This is an early-career opportunity to gain hands-on experience across IT support, Salesforce, system integrations, automation, networking, and software development. 

You’ll help keep our team running day to day while also working on projects that improve how our systems communicate and how our employees work.

What You'll Do 

This role combines traditional IT support with opportunities to learn and contribute to development and automation projects. 

IT Support & Infrastructure 

• Serve as the first point of contact for routine IT issues related to workstations, servers, and network connectivity. 

• Set up and troubleshoot laptops, peripherals, user accounts, and access across our cloud applications. 

• Help monitor network and software performance and respond to alerts under supervision. 

• Support basic configuration and maintenance tasks to help ensure stable and secure connectivity. 

• Support the enforcement of security policies, including access control and data protection best practices. 

Salesforce, Development & Automation 

• Assist with Salesforce administration and development, including building and troubleshooting Flows, reports, and page layouts. 

• Help build and maintain integrations and automations between our systems using APIs, Zapier, WordPress, scripting, and other tools. 

• Use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Codex day to day to troubleshoot issues, write and review code, document work, and help teammates use these tools effectively. 

Documentation & Collaboration 

• Document resolutions, configurations, and procedures to help build and maintain the team's IT knowledge base. 

• Work collaboratively with teams across Veterans Guardian and contribute ideas for improving IT systems, processes, and workflows. 

Requirements

What We're Looking For 

You don't need years of professional IT experience to be successful in this role. We're looking for someone who has built a strong technical foundation and is ready to turn that knowledge into hands-on experience. 

Required 

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree, completed or in progress, in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, OR equivalent experience through a bootcamp, certifications, personal projects, or previous work. 

• Demonstrated interest in IT support, software development, or automation through coursework, personal projects, internships, or previous experience. 

• Familiarity with computer systems, common operating systems, and office productivity applications. 

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. 

• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work effectively with employees who have varying levels of technical knowledge. 

• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies. 

Preferred 

• Introductory knowledge of networking concepts and an interest in learning cybersecurity fundamentals. 

• Exposure to Salesforce through Trailhead badges, coursework, projects, or previous administrator/developer experience. 

• Exposure to cloud platforms. 

• Experience with or exposure to scripting or programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C. 

• Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, automation tools, or similar technologies. 

Who Will Succeed Here 

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious and resourceful. When something isn't working, your first instinct should be to investigate, troubleshoot, and figure out why. 

You should be comfortable balancing everyday IT support with longer-term technical projects. Some days that may mean troubleshooting a laptop or user account. Other days, you may be working in Salesforce, testing an automation, reviewing code, documenting a process, or helping connect two systems. 

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to keep learning and expand their technical skill set.
