About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, PALS Must-Have: ED experience is a must. Description: This facility is not a trauma center. There is no cath lab on site and it is not a stroke center. Trauma, cath lab, and stroke patients are stabilized and transported to appropriate facilities. The Emergency Room has 25 beds and trauma bays. There is a Fast Track area available. A separate triage area exists. Travelers are not required to perform triage duties. There is a separate holding area for patients. Psych/seclusion rooms are available. Security is present 24/7 in-house. On average, the Emergency Room treats approximately 100 patients per day. The nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-1:5. Common diagnoses include a variety of emergency cases. Common critical drips are used within the Emergency Department. Both physicians and mid-level practitioners are available on-site. The charge nurse may take an assignment along with their supervisory duties. Support staff includes techs and sitters. Electronic medical records are utilized. Respiratory therapists perform procedures, and ED RNs are responsible for breathing treatments. There are no monitor techs; RNs read heart strips. Transport services for imaging such as X-ray or CT are located right outside the Emergency Room. Nurses are responsible for drawing labs. Schedules are predetermined; however, requests can be made. Travelers are needed for various shifts throughout the week. Weekend requirements are in place, as well as holiday requirements every other cycle. There are no on-call or standby requirements. Travelers do not float to other departments. Navy blue scrubs are the required dress code. Unit-specific orientation is provided, including hospital orientation and floor training. Cancellations are permitted up to three shifts in a thirteen-week assignment without penalty.
