Reports To : Head Golf Professional / General Manager / Regional Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Head Golf Professional Assistant supports the daily golf operations of The Bridges Golf Club, including Golf Shop operations, tee-time management, member and guest services, tournaments, merchandise, point-of-sale transactions, outside services coordination, and administrative duties.

This position requires professionalism, reliability, strong customer service, golf knowledge, and the ability to provide operational leadership and Golf Shop coverage when needed. The employee is expected to represent The Bridges Golf Club professionally and contribute to an exceptional experience for members, guests, tournament participants, and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Golf Shop & Daily Operations

• Assist with opening and closing the Golf Shop and daily golf operations.
• Greet members and guests and provide professional, courteous service.
• Manage tee times, reservations, cancellations, walk-ins, and golfer check-in.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to questions regarding rates, tee times, memberships, course conditions, events, and policies.
• Process green fees, cart fees, merchandise, range fees, and other transactions accurately through the POS system.
• Follow all established cash-handling, credit-card, refund, discount, and closing procedures.
• Assist with cash reconciliation, closing reports, and deposits as assigned.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and professional Golf Shop.
• Communicate course conditions, cart restrictions, weather delays, closures, and other operational information.
• Help enforce club policies, golf etiquette, dress standards, and pace-of-play expectations.

Leadership & Staff Support

• Assist the Head Golf Professional with coordination of Golf Shop and golf operations employees.
• Provide operational coverage when golf management personnel are unavailable.
• Assist employees with daily assignments, tee-time issues, guest concerns, and operational questions.
• Assist with training new employees and reinforcing established procedures.
• Help coordinate staffing and coverage as directed by management.
• Immediately communicate significant employee, customer-service, safety, financial, or operational concerns to management.
• Promote teamwork between Golf Operations, Food & Beverage, Sales, Maintenance, Accounting, and other departments.

Member & Guest Services

• Develop positive professional relationships with members and guests.
• Respond promptly and professionally to questions and concerns.
• Resolve routine customer-service matters within established authority and refer significant issues to management.
• Maintain knowledge of current rates, memberships, promotions, tournaments, events, and golf programs.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding members, guests, employees, and company information.

Tournaments & Events

• Assist with tournaments, corporate outings, charity events, leagues, clinics, and member events.
• Prepare tee sheets, pairings, scorecards, cart assignments, cart signs, contest information, and other tournament materials.
• Assist with registration, golfer check-in, scoring, results, contests, and awards.
• Coordinate with Sales, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, and Outside Services to support successful events.
• Assist with post-event reconciliation and documentation as assigned.

POS, Cash & Financial Controls

• Accurately process all Golf Shop transactions.
• Follow company procedures regarding cash, credit cards, gift cards, discounts, complimentary rounds, refunds, and adjustments.

Merchandise & Inventory

• Assist with receiving, organizing, displaying, pricing, and maintaining Golf Shop merchandise.
• Help maintain appropriate inventory and professional merchandise displays.
• Participate in inventory counts as requested.
• Follow established inventory-control and loss-prevention procedures.

Golf Programs

• Assist with golf clinics, leagues, junior golf, player-development programs, and member activities.
• Maintain knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, pace-of-play expectations, and course policies.
• Support programs and promotions designed to increase participation, rounds, memberships, merchandise sales, and customer engagement.

Outside & Course Operations

• Coordinate with starters, player assistants, cart staff, and Outside Services.
• Communicate with Golf Course Maintenance regarding course conditions, closures, cart restrictions, frost delays, aerification, and other conditions affecting play.
• Help ensure carts and staging areas are properly organized for daily play and tournaments.
• Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or facility concerns immediately.
• Assist management during weather events, emergencies, course closures, or other operational disruptions.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate tee sheets, tournament records, reports, member information, and other golf-operation documentation.
• Assist with vendor communications when authorized.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

The employee is expected to:

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Immediately report accidents, injuries, hazards, or damaged equipment.
• Complete incident documentation when required.
• Safely operate golf carts and other authorized equipment.
• Follow emergency procedures during severe weather, medical emergencies, fire, evacuation, or other emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous golf operations, Golf Shop, hospitality, recreation, retail, or customer-service experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of golf terminology, etiquette, rules, and golf-course operations.
• Strong customer-service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to professionally interact with members, guests, employees, vendors, and management.
• Ability to operate POS systems, computers, email, telephone, and standard office equipment.
• Ability to accurately process financial transactions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Valid driver's license if required to operate company vehicles or golf carts.
• PGA Associate, PGA Membership, or participation in a PGA professional-development program is preferred but not required unless otherwise specified.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to:

• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, twist, stoop, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Occasionally lift or assist with items up to approximately 50 pounds, using assistance when necessary.
• Safely operate a golf cart when required.
• Move throughout the Golf Shop, clubhouse, cart staging area, driving range, putting green, and golf-course areas.
• Perform duties indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, sunlight, and light rain.
