HR Talent Partner Supervisor
Under the general direction of the Human Resources Staffing Director, the Talent Partner Supervisor provides oversight and performs a variety of functions in support District-wide staffing processes. The Talent Partner Supervisor ensures work is completed by the HR Talent Partner team in alignment with District policies and the Employee Handbook, and provides daily leadership of activities, including but not limited to job posting, hiring, vacancy management, and workbook and surplus activities. The HR Talent Partner Supervisor serves as an internal subject matter expert on the work and practices of the HR Talent Partner team and the District's staffing function. The HR Talent Partner Supervisor should have a growth mindset that fosters a culture of excellence, growth, and belonging.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Talent Partner Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and day-to-day leadership of the HR Talent Partner team, including hiring, training, motivating, developing, mentoring, and providing feedback and support to supervised staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- HR Talent Partner Supervision (30%)
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR Talent Partner team.
- Perform the standard work of the HR Talent Partner for assigned schools and departments.
- Manage, distribute, and balance workloads among the HR Talent Partner team
- Monitor compliance with approved policies and procedures, including those set forth in the Employee Handbook and other applicable District guidance.
- Plan, develop, and implement training and development plans for direct reports to ensure continued development of skills, knowledge, and understanding of District staffing practices and related work.
- Coordinate and provide assistance with coverage for HR Talent Partner operations as needed, including performing the standard work of an HR Talent Partner in a backup capacity.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and address performance and conduct issues, while supporting the resolution of Talent Partner team member concerns and work-related challenges
- Serve on interview and selection panels for the HR department and the District, as requested.
- HR Talent Partner Operations (25%)
- Direct the use of information systems, including the applicant tracking system, by the HR Talent Partner team.
- Partner with internal HR staff to optimize the use of information systems in support of the objectives of the HR Talent Partner team.
- Support the creation and implementation of process documentation related to the work of the HR Talent Partner team.
- Support the creation of support resources for internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate day-to-day and ongoing communication between the HR Talent Partner team and other internal HR teams.
- Review and monitor the quality and accuracy of work related to the HR Talent Partner function, including monitoring key metrics and performance indicators.
- Collaborate with other Talent Partners, Compensation Analyst and Hiring Authorities to develop, review and maintain the district's position descriptions.
- Organizational Responsiveness & Consultative Services (25%)
- Serve as a subject matter expert within HR on matters under the purview of the HR Talent Partner team
- Draft and review internal communications related to matters under the purview of the HR Staffing team.
- Represent HR and/or the HR Talent Partner team as appropriate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert on the provisions of the Employee Handbook related to work completed by the HR Talent Partner team.
- Respond in a timely manner to requests and inquiries from hiring authorities and organizational leaders.
- Escalate issues as needed and appropriate to direct supervisor or other HR leaders.
- Create and maintain constructive working relationships with internal colleagues, peers, and leaders.
- Projects & Special Initiatives (15%)
- Plan, coordinate and execute specialized projects and staffing initiatives as directed.
- Support the implementation of HR system updates, rollouts and process changes.
- Collaborate with HR teams to research, gather data and resolve unique, non-routine staffing scenarios.
- Participate in cross-functional district committees or workgroups representing the HR Talent Partner team.
- Other duties as assigned (5%)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Staffing Director or their designee.
- Support District and school functions aligned with MMSD's strategic framework, initiatives, and core values.
- Complete District-required training and maintain knowledge of practices related to job responsibilities.
- Cultivate and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
- Knowledge of the HR Talent Partner function and related District processes
- Knowledge of the MMSD Employee Handbook as it relates to functions within the purview of the HR Talent Partner function
- Skilled in identifying opportunities for and providing training and development
- Skilled at identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work
- Skilled at utilizing applicant tracking systems, HR information systems, and office productivity software
- Skilled at monitoring, distributing, and delegating work
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and adhere to deadlines while simultaneously supervising a team
- Ability to build consultative relationships with school principals and district leaders
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in handling sensitive personnel information and understanding when to appropriately escalate complex matters
- Proficiency in Google Workspace
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree or commensurate experience and formal training
- Minimum five years of HR experience
- Minimum three years of experience as an HR Talent Partner, HR Business Partner, HR Staffing Analyst, or equivalent role
- Demonstrated success providing formal or informal training, guidance, and leadership

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and may involve walking, sitting, stooping or reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment. This position may require being stationary for extended periods of time.
Ability to perform work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year, including in inclement weather, spaces without air conditioning, and areas where temperatures may be uncomfortable or fluctuate rapidly.
Working Conditions:
- Work may require travel to different locations within the district and to off-site meetings.
- Position may require working evenings, nights, and some weekends.
- Position requires regular onsite work at the District office to provide direct physical supervision of assigned staff, direct in-person support to other stakeholders, and to engage fully in internal meetings and discussions. Hybrid work flexibility may be available and will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.
- School-based positions are required to be in-person unless otherwise directed by the building principal.
