Assistant Project Scientist - ECE - 25/26

Overview The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering within the Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego is conducting an open search for a non-tenure track Assistant Project Scientist in the area of Biomedical Interfaces and Systems. The successful candidate will develop a microfluidic pump, its integration with an implantable pulse generator (IPG) system, and the hermetic sealing and passivation validated in the pig animal model for programmable drug delivery over 3-6 months. Responsibilities Develop a microfluidic pump and integrate it with an implantable pulse generator (IPG) system. Ensure hermetic sealing and passivation in the pig animal model for programmable drug delivery over a 3-6 month period. About the Appointment At UC San Diego, Project Scientists are academic researchers who are expected to contribute creatively to a research team. They are not required to lead an independent research program, but will publish and carry out research or creative programs under supervision. Project Scientists may not serve as Principal Investigators, but may serve as Co-Principal Investigators with members of the Professor or Research Scientist series. University and public service are encouraged but not required, and teaching responsibilities are not included. Qualifications PhD degree in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related area.
