Role Summary : The Controller leads NSU's accounting team and oversees daily accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and internal controls. Reporting directly to the CEO, this hands-on leader is responsible for accurate and timely financial results, effective accounting processes, and the development and performance of the accounting team. The Controller partners with NSU's leadership team and NSI Americas finance leadership to support business decisions and corporate reporting requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close processes.
• Perform complex general journal entries (GJE) accurately and in compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews of financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Manage cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Analyze monthly results against budget and forecast, explain significant variances, and work with department leaders to address issues.
• Prepare timely financial statements, forecasts and analysis
• Develop and implement internal controls to ensure the accuracy and security of financial data.
• Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits.
• Lead and develop the accounting team, establish priorities, assign and review work, manage workloads, conduct performance reviews, and hold team members accountable for accuracy and deadlines. Lead the annual budget and ongoing forecasting process, working with department leaders.
• Coordinate financial reporting and deadlines with NSI Americas finance leadership.
• Partner with operational and project managers to review project costs, revenue recognition, profitability, unbilled receivables, and advance billings.
• Stay updated on accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and enhance processes.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling financial, employee, and company information.
• Coordinate with external auditors, banks, lessors, credit card companies, and collection agencies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Directly supervises 5-7 employees within the Finance and Accounting department(s).
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in accounting or an equivalent major
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as a Controller or comparable accounting leader and at least 3 years directly managing an accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of contract accounting including percentage of completion, completed contract, and Time & Material
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles
• Ability to analyze and resolve issues related to unbilled AR and advance billings monthly
• Working knowledge of international accounting would be desirable
• Strong knowledge of preparation of financial statements, consolidation accounting, and inter-company elimination
• Working knowledge of sales & use tax, GST/VAT taxes, and income taxes (K1 preparation)
• Ability to manage external audit process
• Strong knowledge of internal controls
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and business planning.
• Proficiency of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, income tax and banking.
• Strong managerial abilities
• Computer skills required:
  • Microsoft office suite, Word, Excel, Power Point and Access
  • Deltek Costpoint and T&E experience preferred

Pay range: $130,000-$140,000 per year, based on relevant professional experience.
