Analyzes and evaluates clinical patient data to determine the appropriate therapy or interventions and makes recommendations on patient care plans to the medical staff.Does this position require Patient Care? YesEssential FunctionsInitiates and/or assists with appropriate respiratory tests and procedures, as ordered, to deliver appropriate care to patientsResponds to respiratory emergencies and transports mechanically ventilated patients when moved from units for tests and proceduresPrepares appropriate care plan, and makes specific recommendations to physician for indicated therapy. Schedules patient treatments as necessary and provides consultation as an active member of the patient care teamManages the administration of all aspects of respiratory therapy according to respiratory care policies and proceduresMakes regular bedside rounds and administers Respiratory Care modalities to assigned patients. Modifies treatment care plan according to clinical picture and response to therapyParticipates in education of students, physicians, staff, and patients/families. Clinically supervises respiratory therapy students in the patient areasQualificationsEducationAssociate's Degree Respiratory Therapy required and Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy preferredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?NoLicenses and CredentialsAssociated Degree in Respiratory CareCurrent Massachusetts Board of Respiratory Care licenseRegistered Respiratory TherapistCurrent BLS certificationACLS Required. Must be obtained within the first 90 days of employmentPALS Required.
