Under the direction of the Program Director, the Supervisor is responsible for providing direct service, coordinating daily program operations, supporting staff performance and development, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and promoting effective, ethical, and client‑centered care. Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities Performsand/or delegates the responsibilities in this job description asappropriate. Assists Program Directorwithoversight andoperation of theprogramand is asneededcapacity. Providesupervision,training,and/or development of staff, interns, and volunteerswithin their scope of practice. Maybe responsible forminimumcaseloadincluding group and individual services Conduct comprehensivebehavioral healthscreening, care planning, and treatment activities. Assuresthat documentation is timelyand meets contract, licensing, certification and other requiredstandards.Reviews client files foraccurateandtimelydocumentation as well asappropriate applicationof program services tomeet client needs. Participates in public relations, networking, and/or community partnershipactivities, includingcommunity education, referral sources and resources, cooperative relationships with other service providers asappropriate basedon the needs of theprogram and/or clients served. AssistsinmaintainingBHS visibility in the community, including attendingappropriatemeetingsandfunctions. Provides leadership and serves as a positive role model to staff and clients. Providesinput into the development and maintenance ofprotocols, schedules,policies,and procedures. Participates in and/orfacilitateshuman resources actions such asperformance evaluation, recruiting,hire, discharge,anddisciplinaryactions.Takepart in anddocumentany actions taken. Ensures proper and economical use of staff, equipment, supplies, andfacilities, including monitoring, reviewing, and approving timecards. Ensures thatthe assignedfacility area of responsibility ismaintainedin a good and safestate of repair. Applyadvancedworkingknowledgeof evidence-based practices,medications for addiction treatment, co-occurring disorders,community resources, self-help support, andtreatmentphilosophies. Coordinate with medical providers, social services, andothercommunity resources Monitor client progress andmaintainaccurateandtimelytreatment records and progress notes(e.g., daily activities, service entries,intakeand discharge documentation, etc.) Perform toxicologytesting, take and record vitals as needed,chartrelevantinformation For Supervisors assigned to residential programs, may make rounds every 30 minutes for72 hourson withdrawal management clients,documentand record withdrawal symptoms. For Supervisors assigned to residential programs,mayobserveand document client self- administration of medications. Ensure compliance withregulatory and accreditation standards, including but not limited toDMH,DHCS, SAPC, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2,CARF, etc. Mayassistclients with benefits, housing, vocational, and community reintegration needs Direct response to behavioral crises,medical emergencies,suicidal ideation, overdoseincluding administration ofanti-overdose medications as needed,or acute intoxication safely, within scope of practice, in collaboration with upper management when available. May occasionallyprovidetransportationforclientsincluding toDPSS and other linkages. Report and record any changesobservedin client condition or behavior, including unusual incidents.Identify,report,andassistwith the management of emergencies. Participate insafety programming to promoteclient and staff safety. Maintain health and safety standards of facility. Attendand/orfacilitatesupervision, clinical meetings, and/orcontinuing education tomaintaincredentials. Participate ina leadcapacity intreatment team meetings, case conferences, and program planning.Contribute to agency qualityassurance andimprovement initiatives. Maintainand modelprofessional boundaries and standards. Treat clients with respect,care,and concern.Comply with confidentiality requirements at all times. Maintain familiarity with BHS policies and procedures and other applicable regulations;performjob duties accordingly. Represent BHS well in all contacts. Courteously answer phones, appropriately directing calls and taking messages. Attend meetings,trainings, andparticipatein committees as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Ability todemonstrateand modelprofessional judgment and decision-making, including ability to recognize and seek out supervision and/or consultation whenrequired. If assigned tothe SUDprogram,the abilitytodemonstrateadvanced knowledgeand practiceof12 core competencies for SUD counselorsand/or the BBS scope of practice, mandated core education, and clinical standards and train to these standards. Ability to effectivelydocument inrequired note structures (e.g., SOAP, GIRP, etc.)and train tothese standards. Ability toevaluate staff competency, reviewdocumentationor otherstaffoutput, andprovidecorrective guidance to ensure compliance with treatment standards and payer requirements. Ability to recognize the symptomsappropriately treatsubstance use and co-occurring disorders (i.e., mental health, medical health, etc.)and train to these standards Ability toidentifyand respond appropriately to a crisis within scope of practice including but not limited to overdose, behavioral challenges, contraband protocol, emergency codes, etc.and train to these standards. Ability to screen and/orassess foracute intoxication and withdrawal symptoms within scope of practiceand train to these standards. Ability to meet productivity standardsas assigned, and coach others in meeting productivity standards withinthe scopeof practice. Ability to manage time efficiently without supervision. Ability to recognize personal biases within diverse populations,maintaincultural sensitivity at all times,and train tothese standards. Ability tocollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical providers, mental health clinicians, case managers, and external partners. Ability toeffectively communicate expectations, feedback, and program goals to staff in a clear, professional, and supportive manner. Ability toadhere toand train to professional standards. QualificationsPrerequisite Qualifications The followingare the qualificationsrequiredto perform the essential functions of this position.Qualifications may be subject tomodification based on the Americans with DisabilitiesAct. Bilingual abilities may berequiredwithin certain BHSprograms. Minimum of high school diploma orequivalency.Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred. AA degree plus related experience in lieu of degree.Certified byastate-recognizedsubstance usecounselorcertificationbody, withat least5years of substance use experience, and/ormaster's degreewith BBS registration and/or licensure in MFT, MSW, or PCC withat least 2 years of substance usetreatmentor community mental healthexperience. Knowledge of County, Federal andState programstandards.Experiencewith accreditation and certification preferred. Knowledge ofsubstance use, mental health,recovery,and family systemsrequired.Knowledge of medication-assisted treatmentisrequired. Must have valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if drivinga personalvehicleonBHS business. Obtain NPI number, EMR system enrollment within30 daysof employment. Ability tooperaterequired computer programs for position, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, electronic timekeeping system, electronic learning management system, upon hire. Able to stand, stoop, bend, squat and reach for purpose of performing job duties such as handling materials stocked on shelves, filing,liftingandassistingin emergency situations.Routinely lift and move items weighing up to ten pounds and occasionally up to twenty-five pounds;is expected to ask forassistanceand use a dolly or cart for any heavy items.Vision, hearing, manualdexterity,and eye-hand coordination must be adequate forthe performanceof job duties.Able to sit ata desk,usekeyboard,write and physically perform other job duties.Able to move about the facility toobserveclientsandstaff. #J-18808-Ljbffr Behavioral Health Services
