Staff Accountant / HR

A well-established manufacturing company is seeking a Staff Accountant/HR Generalist to join the team. This is a stable organization looking for a versatile professional who can support both accounting and human resources functions. The Staff Accountant/HR Generalist will work directly with the Controller and is responsible for general accounting duties including billing, collections, and reconciliations, as well as leading day-to-day HR administration. Salary + Additional Benefits: $70,000 100% Company Paid Medical Premiums Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire Responsibilities: Staff Accountant Set up new customers in the system. Billing, collections, cash applications. Reconcile and balance accounts. Aid in the preparation of State Tax reports. Prepare and mail monthly statements to customers. Reconcile bank statements as required. Prepare and enter journal entries. Run month-end financial reports. Invoice for recoverable expenses, inter-company contracts, and billable freight charges. Control petty cash and manual check book. Set up contracts and enter budgets. Receive purchase orders and code/voucher invoices manually. Weekly check run and wire transfer payments. Set up new vendors in the system as needed. Submit W-9s as requested. Process 1099s at year end. Human Resources Assist in the hiring process including contacting agencies, interviews, and reference checks. Ensure that the company is compliant with government regulations by using reliable resources such as SHRM, TWC Conference, etc. Act as a resource for all company policies and procedures for employees. Update company handbook as necessary. Administer new hire paperwork and explain all benefits. Create and maintain employee files. Enroll and terminate employees in all benefits. Evaluate insurance invoices. Investigate, document, and resolve employee issues. Resolve any insurance disputes for employees. Maintain and update the company Organization chart and phone lists. Keep track of employee vacations and sick time. Attend, witness, and document employee termination meetings. Represent the company regarding any unemployment claims or hearings. Process payroll semi-monthly for all employees. Generate and distribute W2 forms. Submit W3 info to IRS electronically. Prepare quarterly returns such as 941, 940, and TWC as required. Requirements Must have a great work ethic Must be bi-lingual - able to read, write, and speak Spanish Ability to maintain confidentiality Must be a self-starter Must have great oral and written communication skills Good computer skills - Microsoft Office is required.
