Athletic Coach - Bowling Part Time | Bronx, NY Job Start Date(s): Winter 2025/26 Job Summary: This is a part‑time position responsible for coaching and guiding scholar‑athletes in bowling. The coach will develop skills, plan practices, supervise games, and promote sportsmanship. Availability during afternoons, evenings, and weekends is required. Key Responsibilities Follow administrative procedures in the CPS Athletics Policies and Procedures Manual. Develop and implement practice plans to condition and train bowlers for competition. Provide individualized coaching and instruction to improve technique, fitness and performance. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents and staff regarding expectations, schedules, and progress. Schedule regular practices and supervise all team practices, games and events both home and away. Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork and positive attitudes. Maintain equipment, uniforms, accurate records and statistics for team performance as required. Enter grades for all athletes. Ensure compliance with league rules and end‑of‑season checklists. Fundraise as needed. Enforce team travel standards for behavior and appropriate attire. Oversee training and care of athletes. For Head Coach: select, supervise, and guide assistant coaches and monitor their professional development. For Head Coach: conduct performance evaluations for assistant coaches. Perform any other duties assigned by Administration. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports science or related field preferred; high school diploma required. Active certification to coach in the State of NY. Experience coaching at the high school level with a focus on skill development and player improvement. Strong knowledge of bowling, including current strategies, techniques and trends. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and inspire athletes. Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and staff. Valid CPR/First Aid certification. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; capable of obtaining passenger endorsement and maintaining an excellent driving record. Position requires weekends, afternoon/evenings, and travel.
