Job Overview:

Lavalette Carpet and Tile is looking for a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Operations Associate to join our team. This is a hands-on position that combines warehouse operations, flooring material preparation, deliveries, inventory management, customer service, and in-store sales and estimating. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with people, can stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty when needed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Flooring & Warehouse Operations:

• Prepare flooring materials for installation, including measuring and cutting carpet
• Pull, stage, organize, and label flooring materials for upcoming installations
• Load and unload flooring materials
• Maintain an organized and clean warehouse
• Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities and materials
• Monitor inventory and report shortages or discrepancies
• Help maintain accurate inventory records
• Assist installers and sales staff with material needs

 

Deliveries:

• Deliver flooring materials to job sites and customers
• Safely load and secure materials in company vehicles
• Verify materials before leaving the store to ensure the correct products and quantities are being delivered
• Communicate professionally with customers, builders, contractors, and installers

 

Customer Service & Sales:

• Greet and assist customers in the showroom
• Help customers select flooring products based on their needs, budget, and project
• Answer questions about flooring products, installation, and availability
• Measure and prepare estimates for residential flooring projects
• Enter customer information and project details accurately
• Follow up with customers on estimates and pending projects
• Coordinate with sales staff and installers to ensure projects move smoothly
• Provide a professional, friendly customer experience from initial inquiry through installation

 

Qualifications:

• Previous flooring, construction, warehouse, delivery, or retail experience is preferred but not required
• Strong customer-service and communication skills
• Comfortable working with measurements and basic math
• Ability to learn flooring products and estimating procedures
• Organized and able to manage multiple tasks
• Reliable and punctual
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Able to lift and move flooring materials and work on your feet throughout the day
• Comfortable using a computer, tablet, email, and basic office software
• Must be willing to learn how to measure, estimate, cut, stage, and prepare flooring materials

 

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of their work. The right person will be someone who sees that something needs to be done and takes care of it without always being asked. You should be comfortable switching between helping a customer in the showroom, preparing carpet for an installation, checking inventory, loading a delivery, and helping the sales team with an estimate.

 

A strong work ethic, reliability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude are more important to us than having years of flooring experience.

 

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturday hours as needed.

 

Compensation:

Competitive hourly pay based on experience and qualifications. Opportunities for bonuses and advancement may be available based on performance.
