Organization: Ultrasound Job Summary Under the leadership of the Director of Medical Imaging Services, the candidate is responsible for operating diagnostic ultrasound equipment while performing sonographic procedures at a technical level requiring no constant supervision of technical detail in order to obtain diagnostic images on patients of all ages. The role performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative, and assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Shift Details Rotating shifts Call required Key Responsibilities Operate ultrasound equipment and perform varied ultrasound procedures. Operate PACS and utilize radiographic supplies per department standards. Participate in after‑hours and weekend call for the Ultrasound department. Identify each patient and review orders for consistency (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis). Review each examination for technical accuracy and present completed examination to radiologists, communicating pertinent data to the care team. Organize patient care, set priorities, and provide critical care first while implementing the physician's order. Be competent in an OR setting with knowledge of sterile technique and various ultrasound procedures in the OR. Demonstrate competency in high‑level disinfection in accordance with hospital policy. Implement care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner to ensure delivery of quality care according to age‑specific guidelines ranging from infancy to geriatrics. Adhere to all department and hospital safety procedures for patient and material handling. Demonstrate understanding of and adherence to the Compliance and Ethics Program. Technical Capabilities Allied health professionals perform supportive, diagnostic, and therapeutic health care services to promote health and prevent disease in a variety of settings, supporting Vanderbilt Health's reputation for excellence.
