About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Must be willing to work days or nights. Shift will be determined by facility needs. Hours per Shift: 36 hours guaranteed Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of professional nursing experience required. License: Must possess current licensure in the state of employment. Certifications: A valid driver's license is required. Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited college, university or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing orders from Licensed Independent Providers. Dispensing and administering medications is part of the responsibilities. The RN assists Licensed Independent Providers in the examination and treatment of patients. Nursing and supervisory techniques are applied in the care and treatment of individuals. All technical and clinical procedures must be performed within the scope of education and licensure. Appropriate nursing skills will be applied in the treatment of individuals. The RN attends sick call with the physician to see individuals. The RN prepares a list of individuals to be examined and readies the examining room and equipment. Dispensing medication and documenting as required by applicable policies and procedures is essential. The RN calls for medication and treatment orders in emergencies. Examinations and assessments of new individuals with illnesses or injuries are conducted. Individuals requiring urgent care are referred to emergency services as needed. Emergency procedures are performed, and Licensed Independent Providers are notified for treatment orders. Coordination of professional medical services provided by contract personnel is part of the role. Monitoring of inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate is required. Guidance, supervision, and monitoring of nursing care provided by staff is essential. A good working relationship with facility staff, nursing staff, and outside provider agencies is maintained. Established policies and procedures are utilized in decision-making. The RN regularly evaluates medical service provision to prevent misuse or duplication of services. Maintaining confidentiality of all medical records is critical. Assisting with the review of medical files ensures that all provided services are documented. The RN closely monitors all potential catastrophic illnesses. Auditing pharmacy use for adherence to formulary is conducted as needed. Compliance with all pharmacy laws and regulations is required. Observation and recording of individual behavior is mandated. Inspection of the medical unit for contraband items is performed, and supplies are securely stored. Health counseling and education are provided on an individual or group basis. Assistance with preparing and maintaining records, reports, and logs is required. Reading, analyzing, comprehending, and interpreting medical and technical procedures is necessary. Processing and responding to lawsuits, and attending court hearings as needed, is part of the role. Facilitating accreditation of the medical program by providing required medical services is expected. Preparation and dissemination of safety and accident reports is required. Appropriate action is taken during serious incidents and emergencies.
