About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its statewide advocacy organization, which is dedicated to advancing a policy agenda that supports the growth and success of public charter schools. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of a critical moment, with the opportunity to realign the organization and the sector around a clear mission. This role demands a politically savvy, strategic, and resilient leader with a deep commitment to educational equity and a proven track record in public policy, government relations, and advocacy. The Executive Director will be responsible for developing and executing a clear policy and advocacy strategy, preparing for and influencing legislative outcomes, and building political power and coalitions. They must be adept at managing a high-performing team, overseeing a significant budget, and ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization through effective fundraising and stewardship of relationships with funders and partners. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in advancing policy or legislative outcomes, building coalitions, and leading organizational change. They should be entrepreneurial, resourceful, and able to operate effectively in a high-pressure, resource-constrained environment. A strong focus on centering equity in all work is essential, as is the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including school leaders, board members, and the broader community. The Executive Director will also be expected to rebuild trust with stakeholders, maintain transparent relationships with the Board of Directors, and serve as the public voice for the organization. Familiarity with the charter school sector and a willingness to be a visible advocate for charter schools in the state are highly valued.
