Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist Hackensack Meridian Health, JFK University Medical Center – Edison, NJ We are seeking a compassionate and experienced full‑time Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist to join our collaborative team in Edison, New Jersey. This position provides vital psychiatric consultation services within a community hospital environment. Position Overview The Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment recommendations to patients within the medical and surgical units of JFK University Medical Center. The psychiatrist will also evaluate patients who enter through emergency psychiatric services. They will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the optimal care of patients with co‑occurring medical and psychiatric conditions. Responsibilities Conduct psychiatric consultations for patients on medical and surgical units. Evaluate patients who enter the emergency department for psychiatric services. Evaluate and diagnose a wide range of psychiatric disorders in the context of medical illness. Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management, psychotherapy recommendations, and crisis intervention. Provide education and support to patients, families, and medical staff regarding psychiatric illness and treatment. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of integrated care pathways. Maintain accurate and timely medical records. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Psychiatry. Valid New Jersey medical license. Experience or fellowship training in consultation‑liaison psychiatry preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
