These challenges can include: Physical Injuries: Many veterans return home with physical injuries that require ongoing medical care and support. Mental Health Issues: Conditions like PTSD, depression, and anxiety are common among veterans and require specialized care. Social Reintegration: Adjusting to civilian life can be difficult, and veterans often need support in rebuilding relationships and finding their place in society. Compassionate Friends Homecare LLC provides the following services: Medical Care: Non-Skilled nursing care can help manage physical injuries and chronic conditions. Mental Health Support: Our caregivers can assist with emotional, psychological and social well being. Daily Living Assistance: Assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, incontinence care, meal preparation, medication reminders, mobility assistance, personal hygiene, companionship, errands/shopping, assistance with eating, light housekeeping, weekend care, respite services, and surgery recovery helps veterans maintain independence. About the Role: The Caregiver plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized support to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities due to age, illness, or disability. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional well-being in their homes or care facilities. The Caregiver collaborates closely with healthcare professionals and family members to implement care plans tailored to each individual's unique needs. Through attentive observation and communication, the Caregiver identifies changes in clients' conditions and responds appropriately to maintain their health and dignity. Ultimately, this role is essential in fostering independence and promoting a supportive environment that respects the rights and preferences of those served. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a certified caregiver training program or equivalent experience in personal care. Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR certification. Ability to pass background checks and comply with state and federal regulations related to caregiving. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working as a caregiver or in a related healthcare role. Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation software. Additional training in specialized care areas such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or palliative care. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client visits. Responsibilities: Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to maintain personal hygiene and comfort. Provide medication reminders and support adherence to prescribed treatment plans under the guidance of healthcare professionals. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met. Perform light housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, and organizing to maintain a safe and healthy living environment. Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation and promote mental well-being. Monitor clients’ physical and emotional condition, documenting observations and reporting any significant changes to supervisors or healthcare providers. Assist with mobility and transportation needs, including helping clients move safely within their homes or to appointments. Follow established care plans and protocols while respecting client confidentiality and privacy at all times. Skills: The required skills enable the Caregiver to effectively support clients with their daily needs while ensuring safety and comfort. Strong communication skills are essential for understanding client preferences, coordinating with healthcare teams, and providing emotional support. Attention to detail is critical when administering medication reminders and observing changes in client health. Preferred skills such as experience with electronic health records enhance the accuracy and efficiency of documentation and care coordination. Additionally, specialized training allows the Caregiver to address complex health conditions with greater confidence and provide tailored support that improves client outcomes. In order to remain active in the agency's system, the employee must work at least one shift per month. Employees are eligible to move back to an active status should they wish to pick up a shift.
