Position Overview As a Senior Silviculture Manager , you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing both annual and long‑term silviculture plans that align with our strategic Market Driven Precision Forestry (MDPF) and sustainability goals. You will optimize silviculture regimes to maximize productivity, efficiency, and financial returns across your designated area. By overseeing everything from site preparation to timber stand improvements and managing a complex network of contractor relationships, you serve as a driving force in the growth and health of our forest assets. How You Will Contribute Strategic Silviculturist: Advance market‑driven precision forestry principles through effective investment and prudent capital allocation that meets established ROI criteria. Operational Architect: Plan and implement site‑specific prescriptions and treatments, optimizing resource allocation to reduce costs and maximize productivity. Financial Steward: Develop and manage silviculture budgets and forecasts, monitoring costs against projections to drive maximum financial performance from our assets. Contractor Management Lead: Oversee the contract process, assessing contractor capabilities, mitigating capacity risks, and building strong, compliant relationships. Collaborative Professional: Foster a culture of collaboration while maintaining strong partnerships with research cooperatives, adjacent landowners, and public agencies. Technology Advocate: Leverage innovative tools and GIS updates to monitor forest health and measure productivity on every acre. Key Accountabilities Silviculture Planning & Execution: Design and execute comprehensive programs for site preparation, planting, weed control, and fertilization that align with company financial objectives. Productivity & Efficiency: Drive operational excellence through process optimization and operational research to enhance silvicultural practices. Financial Mastery: Monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual variances against budgets and forecasts, reporting findings as required by the District Manager. Contractor Oversight: Identify cost‑saving opportunities and manage all phases of the contract process to ensure adherence to legal and company standards. Safety & Environmental Stewardship: Embrace Rayonier’s safety culture and ensure all strategies fully support sustainability commitments and regulatory compliance. Required Qualifications Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or a related field (or equivalent experience); a Graduate degree in Forestry or Business is preferred. Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in land management, with a strong emphasis on silviculture and forest operations administration. Technical Expertise: A thorough understanding of regeneration silviculture, timber stand improvement, forest inventory, GIS applications, and sustainable forestry practices. Professional Skills: Proven ability to motivate others, excellent communication, and strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Direct experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost control. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: This role requires extensive physical activity, including hiking across varied terrain (uneven ground, slopes, wetlands, and dense vegetation), carrying equipment and supplies, and performing strenuous tasks like inventory measurements and sale setup. Work involves maintaining stability on uneven surfaces, navigating obstacles, and working in challenging positions, often outdoors in diverse weather conditions. Operating machinery, power tools, and motor vehicles are also required. Must be flexible to travel within the district. This position is designated as safety-sensitive under Washington law. Applicants for this position will be subject to pre‑employment drug testing which includes testing for non‑psychoactive cannabis metabolites. Employees in this position may also be subject to random drug testing, drug testing after a workplace accident or injury, and drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of impairment while at work. What We Offer Our pay range for this position is $94,200 to $141,200 based on knowledge and experience. This position is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan and our long‑term incentive plan.
