Environment Service Worker Job Posting: Full Time, (40 hours/week), FLSA Non-Exempt, Essential Company: Columbus House, Inc. Purpose: To collaborate with program staff, and assist the Facilities Coordinator as directed to safely implement the maintenance of physical assets, grounds, facilities, equipment and utilities, to monitor the security of occupants and property, and to supervise building occupants and others pursuant to programs and operations to ensure goals are achieved and that the property and improvements are clean, safe, healthy, and may be fully used productively, comfortably, economically and safely, at all times by residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and others. Duties and Responsibilities Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists, maintain records of scheduled procedures, and identify and recommend improvements pursuant to maintenance, security, and programs and operations. Encourage open and honest communications and teamwork for mutual success. Other related duties as assigned. Assist the Manager of Facilities and perform minor repair and maintenance of all physical assets, buildings, facilities, grounds, and utilities. Inspect physical assets, buildings, facilities, grounds, and utilities and identify items in need of maintenance or repair. Provide onsite security and inspect assets to ensure safety and security. Minimum Job Requirements Basic understanding of Columbus House’s mission, homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health. Physical ability to move independently throughout Columbus House and Middletown, perform manual labor, lift and carry up to 25 pounds safely, extensive walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and use hands for fine manipulation and maintenance tools. Reliability and ability to accept supervision. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Safe work practices, occupational hazards, and safety precautions related to general property security, grounds, and maintenance work. Safe and efficient operation, use, and maintenance of basic hand tools and equipment, chemicals, and other products for routine maintenance. Recognition of failures in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other equipment and building components. Execution of oral and written instructions; reading, writing, and maintaining legible reports and records. Effective working relationships with supervisor, co‑workers, building occupants, volunteers, public officials, visitors, and ability to work independently or cooperatively as a member of a team.
