Manager, Category Management (Natural Channel)

Position Overview The Manager of Category Management performs a valuable role in building a strong partnership with the Natural Channel (Whole Foods, Sprouts, Fresh Thyme) by developing and implementing analytics and insights to deliver against company, category, and customer priorities. This position is responsible for leading the development and sharing of Category Management foundations and directives throughout the organization for the assigned category. Key Responsibilities Establish clear Category Management strategies for the company and retailers based on industry trends and consumer insights by leveraging various data sources to construct dynamic presentations in order to communicate strategies and achieve objectives. Serve as an expert in translating internal knowledge into action to identify opportunities for assigned retailers. Collaborate with the account teams and cross‑functional teams to develop solutions to business issues. Establish and deliver best‑in‑class merchandising recommendations, leveraging tools such as JDA and Rich Mix. Influence the customer by identifying opportunities and providing potential solutions that align with natural channel retailers and company objectives. Assist with research and lead projects to deliver category solutions benefiting natural channel retailers and the company. Develop category reviews, line reviews, promotion analysis, new item trackers, and related deliverables. Leverage data tools to provide reporting and insights which will further develop company and natural channel retailer objectives. Develop analyses and insights that will help with business issues including SKU rationalization, item defense, new item sell‑in, category reviews, new item tracking, consumer behavior, promotion and pricing, etc. Incorporate advanced consumer data (macro‑level insights, market research, consumer decision tree, household panel data, customer data from Rich Mix, JDA, Numerator) as relevant. Partner with key internal teams such as strategy and sales to leverage insights to develop business at assigned retailers. Experience and Education Requirements 5+ years of consumer packaged goods industry experience, preferably in health & wellness or nutritional supplement, with a focus on category management. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Microsoft Office with very strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Prior experience with IRI/Nielsen syndicated and panel data preferred. JDA experience preferred but not required. Strong data synthesis and visualization abilities. Up to 25% overnight travel required. Skills Ability to effectively build and tell a story through data. High level of organizational skills with strong written and oral communication. Ability to extract clear, concise insights from multiple data sources. Independent work, prioritization, and meeting deadlines. Experience working with national retailers and building successful partnerships. Team‑oriented with demonstrated ability to operate at all levels of an organization. Cross‑functional collaboration (account teams, strategy teams). Multi‑tasking and follow‑up when responses are needed. Comfortable leading multiple retailers for a region. Problem solver with a solutions‑oriented mindset. Dynamic leadership capable of overcoming obstacles and objections. Listening to customers and moving objectives forward. Clear communication of plans, reports, ideas, and concepts to cross‑functional teams and management. Preparedness to present detailed analysis to cross‑functional teams. Problem‑solving using facts and analytical tools, collaborating for maximum results. This position will be either a remote or hybrid role based on the selected candidate’s geographic location. Strong preference will be given to applicants who live within a commutable distance of Bridgewater, New Jersey. The approximate pay range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000. The final compensation may vary based on knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
