Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The Community Health Center of Buffalo, Inc. (CHCB) is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join their team in Buffalo, NY. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with Behavioral Health staff to provide assessments, evaluations, consultations, examinations, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning for a specific patient population.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing clinical direction to clinical staff, including Social Workers, Case Managers, RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants.
• Adhering to all clinical policies and procedures, including infection control principles and confidentiality.
• Assessing psycho-social health status through medical history and physical examination.
• Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests.
• Triaging, diagnosing, and treating illness and behavioral health conditions within the specialty area of practice.
• Functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Prescribing medication, providing preventive health maintenance, and education.
• Teaching and counseling patients, families, and groups.
• Participating in quality improvement activities.
• Complying with regulatory guidelines and collaborating physician requirements.
• Directing, instructing, and evaluating nurse practitioner students.
• Attending meetings and performing other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• Current, unrestricted New York State license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
• Current DEA Registration number to prescribe controlled substances.
• Master of Science degree in Nursing.
• National certification in specialty area.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Five years of experience in an outpatient setting.
• Experience with eClinical Works Electronic Medical Record System.

Salary: $115,000 - $120,000. Benefits include a generous benefits package, four paid CME days and $1,000 stipend annually, medical student loan repayment eligibility, paid malpractice insurance, and more.
