Job Description Summary The Night Auditor (NA) is responsible for accurately balancing all hotel income and expenses for every 24‑hour operating period and acts as a Guest Service Agent for the overnight front desk shift. The NA delivers results that support the hotel’s mission and overall success by managing front‑desk performance and serving as the system liaison during night hours. Responsibilities Deliver Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to G.U.E.S.T. standards. Balance and audit room, food & beverage, telephone revenue and room tax charges for accuracy. Prepare and transmit daily management/accounting reports with supporting documentation. Assemble General Manager reporting packs (daily, weekly, monthly). Set up and maintain the complimentary breakfast service, including food stations and supplies. Assist with washing, drying, and folding hotel laundry. Serve as the security point of contact during select times. Communicate with the Operations Manager to resolve accounting discrepancies. Register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services, room location, and Travel Pass rewards. Answer phones in a prompt and courteous manner. Process all cash and credit card transactions, post charges, complete cashier reports, and handle deposits. Book guest reservations (individual or group), process cancellations, revisions, and updates. Up‑sell rooms to maximize revenue. Follow seasonal demand reservation strategy for room type and length of stay pricing. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departments. Serve the shoppe and the pour, ensuring guests receive offered products. Follow local laws regarding alcoholic beverage sales. Ensure guest special requests are fulfilled and services are properly delivered. Issue, control, and release guest safe‑deposit boxes. Comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. One year of previous hotel experience preferred; extended‑stay industry experience preferred. Proficient reading, writing, speaking, and written communication in English; other languages beneficial. Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, and variances. Problem‑solving, reasoning, motivation, organization, and training abilities. Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera hotel systems preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Physical ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, lift or pull items up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods. Required to obtain a ServSafe certification; TIPS certification may be required. Will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
